I was in the middle of trying to do my own nubian twists body hair was easier to deal with when my hair was wet. So i wet my hair and put EVOO on it so it wouldn't dry out as fast. So after i stopped kidding myself and went to a professional she was ripping through my hair and i told her i would detangle it myself. While i was finger combing i noticed how soft and motorized my hair was without being greasy! I have tried every moirturizer in the past with no real success so i kept getting thicker and thicker and thicker moisturizers. I even bought roux porosity control and it did nothing. I also used a clear dye and that did nothimmg also and protein treatments. Who knew all i needed was water and oil!

Does anyone else do this? If so what oil do you use?

I know an old member MSA used to use Castor oil on wet hair and she reported back having very soft moisturized hair. I know LynnieB uses olive oil, but I don't know if it's on just wet hair or if she uses anything else with it.

i have tried sealing oil into just water wet hair.

it doesnt work so great for me, though. ((sad face))

could save some money! lol. i'd love to not have to use moisturizer or leave-in.

I get the same results with Sunflower oil. It's moisturized, soft without being greasy. No others so far (coconut, EVOO, avocado, jojoba, almond) :nono:

Castor works ok with me but it can be greasy at times.

when I was relaxed I would seal with castor oil after washing (usually castor mixed with almond oil) and would have very soft hair...I need to get back to that.

I do this about once a twice a week after my cowash. I use EVCO, Grapeseed oil, or EVOO. I get the best results with Grapeseed oil. I don't do it everytime and I really don't know why. I won't have dry hair because I cowash daily....I will try this for a week and I'll come back here with my results.

I don't see how a lot of people have success with castor oil. I poured castor oil on my hair once while wet and a castor oil/olive oil mix on my hair once, and both times it made my hair sticky and stiff as ever! I don't know if I used too much or what, but I gave it a try on dry hair... made it feel like straw.

I wet my hair, then put olive oil on it (while its in the plaits that I wear under my half wig) and sit with a conditioning cap on for a while. This is what I used to detangle my hair every time before I shampoo. It works really well for me as far as softening and loosening my hair up to detangle. I actually got the idea from Kimmaytube.

I don't know how that would work as far as daily moisturizing. Daily, well really every other day or so, I spray with water, then a moisturizer (Bee Mine luscious), then an olive oil based oil mixture.

I tried this, but it made my hair feel too greasy to the touch--didn't absorb right.
I'd do it as a pre-poo though.:yep:

My hair doesn't like castor oil either. It's okay for the ends but not to put all over my hair. Even then I would mix the castor oil w/something else.

I use coconut oil on my son's hair the same way I would use a conditioner - for detangling, as a rinse out and leave in and to add moisture when needed. It works perfectly

I didnt put a lot of oil on my hair. Ill experiment and see what amount my hair likes and dislikes. Castor oil would be WAY to heavy! And my hair was damp not soaking wet so idk if that makes a difference

I third this. I only use castor oil on my ends when wet. Just a little or it will weigh it down and get super greasy and sticky. Never on dry hair. I might try olive oil on my ends but I have a super sensitive nose and I hate the way olive oil smells. Dods it linger?

I used to do this with EVCO, EVOO, Castor Oil mixed. It worked great but it made my scalp itch very bad so I stopped doing it.

Olive oil is the only oil I use these days. I use it on wet and dry hair, sealing, toss some in a deep conditioner, on straightened hair and as an end treatment - it just works and my hair actually absorbs it.

If you don't like the scent of the oil, just add a couple drops of an EO that you do like, I use sandalwood or ylang-ylang but I've found the natural scent disappears rather quickly. I put my olive oil in an old 50cent recycled hair oil bottle and add the drops of EO.

Castor oil is a huge hellz no, it leaves a sticky, gooey coating on my hair. It doesn't absorb at all and make my hair really dull and yall already know coconut oil is no go.
