Has anyone tried Thermasilk with any good results?

I've been considering using this line but didn't find a lot on the threads that was conclusive. Does anyone like it? Dislike it?

The only thing I have tried is the leave in conditioner, and its nothing to scream about, but it isn't damaging either. Definately not a rave.

I know that Kmart and similar stores sell trial sizes where they have all the travel size stuff.

I use to love the shampoo and conditioner but I dont use it anymore. I gave my cousin the deep conditioner and she liked it.

I liked Thermasilk and have considered going back to it as my cheap alternative. I use their leave-in conditioner as a heat protectant (I add my 911 creamy leave-in also).

I actually was an avid believer in Thermasilk before I started transitioning, it smelled great and left my hair very silky. And the heat activated thing was true becuase my hair was full of body and shine when I would flat iron it. It may be because of the silk proteins it had in it. Anyway, I switched to more natural products when I decided to transition.

I didn't like the conditioners but the leave-in is cheap and good when you plan to blowdry or go out where there is a lot of sun.

I have the conditioner that comes in a jar. I used it once pre-heat styling and it left my hair incredibly soft. I like the spray leave-in as well. I did have the regular instant conditioner and don't like it because the smell is too strong.

I just bought the leave-in spray, I havent used it yet, but I will come wash day. It was recommended by a associate (non-hairboard member), but hair looks good ;) .

i used to be an avid thermasilk user last year when i was natural. i used the regular brand and the one for curly heads. i stopped using it once i started to transition. dont really have a reason why... just wanted to try something different. :ohwell:

I used Thermasilk years ago...about 5 years ago while I was in high school. I liked the fact that it was heat activated, or whatever, but I only used it once or twice. I had good results, but I didn't stick with it because I was using Elasta QP products and Creme of Nature, and I liked them better.

Thermasilk is what brought me to LHCF in the first place. :ohwell: Well, not exactly. But, The thermasilk poo and co's (coupled w/heat styling) made my hair so pretty, silky, shiny and flowing that I became addicted to the look and started washing and blowdrying & hot curling my relaxed, color-treated hair every 2-3 days with Thermasilk just to maintain the look of freshly washed, silky shiny hair. But, because of the increased blowdrying and hot curling....my hair got weak and started breaking off.

Pretty soon...folks were asking me why I had gotten my hair cut (which I didn't.) :nono: I had to throw the Thermasilk out and swear off the heat styling. And here I am today.....bunning it and walking around with a perpetually wet or damp head, trying to gain back what I lost and surpass that length. I'm saying all that to say....Thermasilk makes your hair look beautiful but it doesn't necessarily protect relaxed/color treated or otherwise damaged hair from heat styling. BEWARE.

Hey Can'tBeCopied, do you think you would of had good results if you had used these products and the heat less often... maybe once a week or every 2 weeks???

Exactly what I was thinking. Perhaps it wasn't necessarily thermasilk, but the use of heat every couple of days. I don't think any product can COMPLETELY protect hair if using heat constantly, there's bound to be damage, especially if hair is BOTH relaxed and color-treated.

I tried the moisturizing heat activated conditioner and it smelled good, but really didn't do anything special, I won't but it again. I also bought and still use the leave-in conditioner when I blowdry my hair and it wirks pretty well. My hair always comes out very soft and manageable. I would probably repurchase this.

Sorry it took so long for me to respond Poohbear. Yes, I suppose if I'd only been blow-drying my hair once a week rather than once every 2-3 days, that would have made a difference. My issue was that BECAUSE it was Thermasilk and supposed to be a PROTECTIVE HEAT STYLING tool, I fell into the trap thinking my hair was being protected in some unusual way and that I could afford to use it more often. Suffice it to say, it's no more protecting than any other line of drugstore poos and co's when it comes to heat styling. :ohwell: (glad that part of my hairlife is over)

I only bought it for the heat protecting properties. I don't think it did too much for my hair. No lasting effects. I still have it in my stash. I'll give it one more try. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. :(

WHERE do you guys find the leave in? I have looked...everywhere around me, not even walmart has a thermasilk leave in.....and I've just started blowdrying my hair, as it's getting a little to long to wait for it to dry now....and I need something to help fight heat damage

I use the leave in that is a detangler too. I love it I also use Paul Mitchell's hydrating moisturizer, NTM and tea tree oil while I detangle and I have no problems combing my hair out. It works great and its cheap

I use Thermasilk. It does wonders for my hair the conditioner
the leave in the shampooo ....I love them all! :weird:
