Her hair seemed basically "texturized" before she transitioned IMO. She said that she just started texturizing, yet her ends were curly. So, IMO she always had a texturizer. Thus, no transitioning.
Since a texturizer is basically a relaxer(that is rinsed alot sooner than if you were relaxing it straight)...you could just texturize your new growth only when you are ready for your touchup...
That seems like a simple way to do it. You just have to cut off the 'straight' part as you go, till it's all gone. That's the way I would do it. I'm sure someone else can give you another way of achieving this.
It depends on how long you want to transition. I went from shoulder blade length relaxed hair to my current do in 11 months (see my album). I grew my hair out and texturized when I had enough new growth to satisfy me. I could have just texturized the new growth without cutting my relaxed ends all the way off, but my roots would have been curly and the ends straight, so I would have ended up wearing my hair straight all the time until I had trimmed off all the relaxed ends and I was in a hurry to wear my hair curly so I just went for the big chop (of relaxed ends). If you have patience, it can be done. Good luck !
