Not the religious backsliding, but from haircare? Has anyone aside from myself found that they've been just going through the motions and really not being so hair crazy. I mean, you're still washing and deep conditioning, but probably not as often as you used to when you were really into it. And you've even slacked off in your PJ phase..

C'mon, I know I wasn't the only one backsliding..

C'mon in and confess...It'll do your soul some good...

I just want to add that now that I'm back on the board, I'm getting right back into it and I've even started back with my PJism..

Welcome back CarmenRose!!! Good to hear from you!

I was backsliding on deep conditioning because my favorite conditioners lost their 'umph' when I tried to leave it on for longer than 5 minutes. Im still on the look out for one that wont do this....

I've definitely been backsliding. I'm natural and very busy so I don't like combing out my hair. I discovered that I could use a blowdryer with a brush attachment. It worked but it broke out alot of my hair. I am just tired of my hair because I never do anything with it and when I do do it, it breaks off or doesn't last. Being bald would be really convenient for me right now but then I wouldn't have any hair.

I need to do a little backslide. Ever since I found this forum...I find myself on it every day... looking at my hair every 5 minutes....and breaking into a fit when I find split ends...

I have been real slack lately. I feel guilty as I have used my flat iron/blowdryer at least 2x this month. Also, I have been rushing my conditioning step post shampoo. I've just been to stressed and busy to be focusing on my hair for the moment.

I havent deep condiitioned in a month or so. But since I have natural hair im not too worried about it.

Backsliding ... that's an understatement for me right now. I really need to get back on track. And ... it's not like I don't have enough products to use to take care of my hair ... lol!

Good thread!!!!!!!!!!1

I've been backsliding for some time now. I need to get my foot back in the door b/c my rollerset hair came out so beautifully i felt like i just walked out of the dang salon. i also need to step up my 'pj' game b/c i am fresh out of my keracare humecto, mizani moisturfuse AND my keracare hydrating shampoo

*raises hand guiltily* I've been backsliding for some time as well. Go ahead, chastise me.

I deserve it.

CaramelHonee----which Mizani Moisturefuse are you using? The "new" formula or the "old one? Have you tried both? How do they compare?

Thanks in advance .

I tried backsliding....trying to wait longer in between washes but that didn't work. My head was itching so badly that I literally scratched it raw.

After my last salon touchup and rollerset, I wore my straightened hair down or in a hair claw with the ends exposed for 3 WEEKS STRAIGHT. I was trying to be cute and impress this one guy (who I didn't run into for the entire 3 week period

). Silly me.

Now I'm back on track with the braided bun, Surge, MSM, and protein consumption. I'll improve my detangling technique, I promise.

Well look at us all! Justa backsliding away.

Me too...

but I think my "backsliding" may be paying off. I think my hair was just sicka me before...

I haven't been deep conditioning as much - been busy and that's never good. I don't rollerset as much either - which isn't really "bad" but my hair doesn't look nice as often anymore.

I've gotten lazy and in order to "wear it" I have to go the salon because rollersets aren't as easy as they were when my hair was shorter (because I'm lazy - not because it's actually hard).

I still miss my color too - I even bought a box of color after Allandra's coloring experience but decided against it. My hair isn't ready to be colored right now....

Rambling...sorry.

I have been back sliding for the last couple of months.:( I still wash every 3-4 days but I haven't been applying moisture to my hair daily and I haven't been deep conditioning w/ every wash this is why my hair is supppperr dry now.

Thanks Britt...I like that pic of Ashanti with the rose..She looks really pretty. I chose the pic of Stacey because she's ridiculously pretty and because of her beautiful hair..

I'm just glad that I'm not the only one..There's healing in numbers...

I know I have...and now that I am trying to get my hair straightened this week I am panicking for longer hair and I am working the products.

Don't even mention it! Me too! Sounds like Miosy is in the same predicament a I am. I want longer hair badly, but sometimes other things happen, get so busy you have time only for the basics, no pampering rituals:sigh! But, I'm getting back on track as of today. My hubby's jst left for a little trip, so I can do all those stinky treatment.. (smile) I jst call it life happening. Sometimes, you're up with it and evrythinggoes well, other times, you're bogged down in difficulties, but you keep on going!
Let's get back to our good hair habits ladies!

Hello,

My name is Jade and I am adding my name to the list of slackers this evening.

Yes, I have been a major slacker with my hair. I think that's why I haven't had the guts to write anything in my diary for quite some time.

My excuse: the business of life, caught in a whirlwind, trying to everything w/no time and well, you ladies know that drill.

I haven't purchased anything new in quite some time. I have a St. Ives store in my house..conditioners that is. And, I have quite a stash of 2-in-1 shampoos. I think these have saved my hair from suffering any, especially with this incredibly cold air. I also can't say that I have tucked my length in my coat like I do every winter. Sometimes yes, but most times no. Strange how a 2-in-1 shampoo coupled with some heavy conditioners can save a girl with hair which tends to get dry, especially in the winter.

Last weekend I deep conditoned for the first time in well...I cannot remember the last time I let a deep conditoner marinate for over an hour.

What got me to deep conditon? Well, like someone else posted, I was trying to be CUTE...hehehe. I was getting tired of using my regular 2-in-1 shampoo and decided well, it's a bit warmer so I will just try this Clairol Intensive Blends shampoo for dry hair. It's been sitting in my cabinet for many months. It smelled so good, it was different and well we had a heat wave of nearly 40 degrees and I could feel the moisture in the air. AHEM...major mistake...MY HAIR HATED THAT SHAMPOO. It felt "strange", then I saw extra strands in my brush and ladies I ran for the water and a different shampoo...the routine winter one. Plus I used a deep conditioner and everything was cool.

Lesson learned and I am looking forward to a wonderful spring of leaving SLACKING behind!

I have cleansed my soul...hehehe.

~Jade~

P.S. Thankfully, I have been eating well and taking my usual supplements.

I completely stopped deep condition with heat. And it was must for me every time I wash my hair. Really cause I got tired of jumping in and out the shower. I now just leave the conditioner on at the most 8 minutes while im in the shoower. Its weird cause when I deep conditioned with heat my hair would never be as soft and moisturized. Im loving the results now.

Naomi reminds me. Last wash, I put L'Anza straight line conditioner in my hair, got out of the shower, and sat under the bonnet dryer for and hour. I didn't feel like getting back in the shower to rinse out the conditioner, so I just combed through the hot, damp hair and braided it back into the vaselined braided bun. Don't tell NOOOOObody!

Jade---LOL at the 40 degree heat wave.

New Yorkers don't know how to act when it's above freezing over here!!! The winter has been so cold that I long for the weather man to say 40 degrees...

Tracy...Sorry that it's more difficult for you to rollerset all your hair BUT hey..it's a good reason: LENGTH!!!

Here's to even more difficult rollersetting sessions!!!

I dont think Ive back slid so much as it has all just become a boring routine. I dont feel the thrills I used to when doing what I need to do...But I cannot stop because when this trial period is over, I want to be able to say, Yep I did everything I was supposed to do and either it all worked or it didnt work. But Im really haning on by a thread here, to be honest

I get my avatars from cattdaddy.com..Even if the pic is kind of big, which they usually are not, this site will kind of reduce it to fit. At least that's how it seems to me..HTH

I haven't been moisturizing my ends as much as I probably should, but it hasn't made much of a difference. They still look really healthy with no splits -- thank goodness. And I haven't been braiding my hair at night as much. Some nights I just shove it all under my scarf and call it a night.

Oh, I forgot that I had also stopped taking my vitamins and supplements for about two weeks. But I started taking them again about three days ago.
