Your picture says you are transitioning...what are your plans?

My plans are to transition for as long as possible and just gradually trim off the relaxer. I really don't have a definite plan when it comes to my transition, b/c I haven't dealt with my natural hair since I was about 12. If I decide that I can't manage my hair natural, I may consider texturizing, but I won't make that decision until later. For now I'm just sticking with the transitioning, which is easier than it was the first few months, but it still presents a challenge dealing with the two textures. I don't plan to use braids b/c I've never had them before, and I think they might irritate my scalp. Since I live in Miami, I will probably do modified braidouts in the summer, where instead of braiding my hair, I start with soaking wet hair, add a leave in and some curl definer, and scrunch it dry with a diffuser. **SIGH** Kudos to all who did the Big Chop!!! Transitioing without chopping is quite a challenge!

Deborah,

I use a ceramic flat iron, and I think a quality ceramic iron makes all the difference in straightening your hair when you're transitioning. With my ceramic iron, I can get my hair just as straight as I did when I was relaxing, and it stays for about a week.

But I'm always embarassed to tell anyone which flat iron I use, b/c it costs so doggone much!!!

The name of it is ADST ex, and it's supposed to be one of the best on the market. It comes with a lifetime warranty, which is why I spent so much $$$ on it. I really love it, and it's worth every penny. But there are more affordable ones out there that don't cost as much. Here's the link to the place in Miami where I purchased mine, and the also sell others that are less pricey, such as the Hai, the Chi, etc. Personally, I used my girlfriend's Chi several times before I got mine, and I loved it, but the warranty on mine is what sold me.
