Hmmm.. about how many bantus (my hair is a little past shoulder) because my bantus always seem to end up like spirals and not wavy(ish) like this style...

Those look like big waves to me with some curl on the ends. I would do one or two big braids or one or two twists on your head and put a rod on the end(s). The bigger the braid or twist, the bigger the wave you'll get. If you opt to do bantu knots, I would only do one or two knots the most since you want big curls or waves. However, if I was doing this style on my hair, I would only do one braid or twist on wet hair.

I was also thinking that maybe you could do the braid(s)or twist(s) loose to make a bigger wave.

hmmmm... knew you ladies would have some great ideas... now I have to pick which one to try today.... thanks ya'll!!

I have been able to achieve this style by doing braidouts. The older it gets, the looser it gets, creating a more wavy look. I use the perm rod rollers on the ends to get the curls.

This is only a couple of days after a braidout..................

This is about 5 days after a braidout.....the waves have loosened a little.

Thanks! When I initially do it on wet hair, I do 10 (3 on each side and 4 in the top, going down like a mohawk). Then as I do it each night before I go to bed, I just do 2 or 3 and put the roller on the ends. (JUST figured out that I only have to do 2 or 3 following the initial set; I had been still doing 10 every night before I go to bed)

Thanks!
I just did individual plaits and then put the rollers on the ends. (I used the small magnetic rollers in the past, but now I use perm rollers b/c you can get more of the plait around it and it doesn't leave a dent)

Here is a pic of my hair when I rollerset last weekend. I wish I would of gotten some pics of the back. But what I did instead of starting at the ends and rolling my hair down I start mid way and wrap the ends around the roller couple of times then roll down. This gives me a more spiral look. I dont like to comb my hair into a wrap after rollersetting (to eliminate stress) so I like to have some curl too it. Also my NG is outrageous right now on the sides and I dont smooth them down w/ anything....just let my hair run wild:grin: Hope that helps it kinda has those spiral curls that Halle has in that pic. Sorry if the pic is big

hmmmm... cute idea... I'm sooooo gonna have to try this.. what color rollers did you use??

The teal and the biege. They are the smaller ones but I like tight curls so when I wear my hair up it has some volume and curl to it. I am sitting in rollers now and I will take better pics of the back and sides when I take down and put them in here tomorrow.

Hey MsDee, just like the other ladies mentioned, I have done this style with bantu knots and the waves came out very similar. I just did three, one on each side and one in the middle of my head in the back.

OT: Ms. BlackBarbie, I ain't hardly messing with you and them arm muscles!

I agree with bantu knots. You can definitely get that look with those. Just don't do a whole lot (I would do 1 or 2) because you will get a tighter curl/wave than hers.
