I love them for a quick updo:

I've never used those, but I have used the other kind. I have a picture in my album.

I don't think I have enough skills for the ones you use:D

Where did you buy that particular hair stick?
BTW, your hair is beautiful and that updo is gorgeous!

Girl, I got it at Kmart(Scunci brand)...$1.99. Oh and thanks for the compliment Carribean!

Sweet Ambrosia, I've seen some like the silver ones. Really cute!

I have about 5 sets that I rarely use--but should use. They're great accessories to jazz up our popular LHCF protective styles. :)

Funny you posted because I just bought one tonight at kmart. I don't think my hair is long enough for it yet but I wasn't sure if this was something they carried on a regular so I picked it up. Your hair looks great!!!

I do! I like the traditional asian decorated "chopsticks" and use them to dress up my buns and add a little "zing" when bunning gets a bit boring. I have wide variety of cheap and expensive sticks, even some cutom made ones that I spent big $$ on. I very rarely see sticks I like at local stores, so I've purchase most of mine online at the following sites:

www.longlocks.com
www.longhairloom.com/stickshome.html
www.hairboutique.com
www.cscreations.com
www.blueheronwoods.com
www.moonwitch.com

There are TONS more with a yahoo or google search for "hairsticks" or "hair sticks" . . .

Sup? I don't use that kind, though; I use the 2 sticks.

I have about 20 pairs, and I get them at Claire's. I think I've bought them out, though. So I'm searching for a new place to get some.

I use them to dress up my buns, it makes protective styling a lot easier and classy.

I find it funny that when I wear my hair sticks and I just happen to randomly be near/around an Asian person, they will stare and whisper. Every time. I don't know if they're saying it's cute, or that I'm wearing it wrong,.

 I'm sure they think you're cute!;)

So how do you use these? If your hair is freshly permed and not super-thick, will they stay in?

I use the "chopstick" kind all the time on freshly relaxed up to 12 weeks post relaxer when I retouch. It took a while to learnn but I bun my hair with just the sticks, no pins, no clips, just twist my hair into a bun and move hairstick thru the bun (in on one side out on the other side of the bun) then I use the second hairstick to "decorate" or hold more secure, if needed, thats it.

When I first started with hairsicks, I used hair pins to hold the bun and then used the sticks to decorate, but I since learned I don't need the extra pins because the sticks, if properly inserted, will hold buns very very securely, without being too tight and very easy on my hair.

If well-made, the "stick" part are super smooth and seamleass so that doesn't snag hair going in or coming out . . .

My hair is 1 week post. I just twisted it up and stuck the hairstick in.
