Last night I highlighted my hair with Clairol textures and tones in Red Hot Red. The color turned out okay, but instead of my hair feeling soft and as usual, it feels hard.

Not dry like I need some extra moisturizer but actually hard, and it smells funny.

I would like to blame it on the color, but it also may be the Cream of nature conditioner that I used.:ohwell: (I am slowly creeping back into PJism)

A little help and advice would be much appreciated. I don't have much experience with color.

Also if I decide that I no longer like the color, can I color back over it with a hennalucent or a cellophane or something.

i would rewash it and condition it really well.

as far as going over the color!? your hair is BRIGHT red isn't it? red is hard to get rid of!! you may be able to tone down the redness with a rinse but not fully get rid of it.

i think a rinse would be safer rather than going over it with another permanant color.

give it time it may grow on you!!

also keep in mind that hot oil will also help release some of the redness!!

good luck!!

My hair is not really bright red. Like clown red or anything. In fact it is kind of subtle on my hair. It is just hard feeling. Not soft.

I am just really fickle and coloring seemed like a good idea at the time. :ohwell:

Maybe Tracy can help you with this situation. I would but I have no experience with hair coloring.

i know after i texturizw my hair gets hard. i do an aphogee treatment and everything is back to soft and silky! i also gave my friend an aphogee after she dyed her hair and its back to feeling soft as well

Bumping for Tracy!!!
Day two and my hair is still hard. I am going to wash and condition tommorrow. I might go get my ends trimmed at Leon's.

Red actually fades pretty quick. I've had red highlights before. I think it would be ok to go over with a cellophane (brown perhaps).

Has anyone seen Tracy?

I have decided to let the color stay for a while at least. My roommate says that the color is fine and that I am just over reacting because of the change. Today I am going to Leon's for a wash and curl or set and to get my splits trimmed. Hopefully after the wash and condition, my hair will be fine. If I still don't like it by Spring Break, I will get a cellophane put on top most likely in brown.

I trimmed it myself yesterday (Leon's wanted $9, and that was not in my budget), washed, set, and wrapped. The hardness is gone somewhat but I did not use my usual hask placenta just in it is protein overload. The red really isn't that bright it looks more like a rinse than a permanent color. It is growing on me. But I am researching to see if I can cover it with a Bark Brown Hennalucent if the urge hits.
