Ok, I've finally decided on braids for a protective style during my transition. The issue is I work in an extremely conservative corporate environment and it's not supposed to make a difference, but braids are going to work. I found a style I really love and think it would be very flattering AND it doesn't look like braids! Everyone I've showed the picture to asks - those are braids? http://www.khamitkinks.com/miko.html

Problem is I really don't want to spend that kind of money on braids even for 12 weeks and I've had enough bad experiences (2) with braiders (African) in the past that I'm don't want to risk it again - too much time and money to have to remove them in a short period of time.

Anybody know of good salons in DC area that can do QUALITY work? NY is second choice?

TIA
