Seen a few articles on hair type.

Can someone help identify my hair type (1st pic in album)?

I am thinking a 4a :look: . Not sure though!!!

I couldn't tell by the first pic but the wash n go pics would lead me to guess about a 4a.

Sorry about the quality of the hair type pic. I'm still trying to figure out how to manipulate my new digital camera.

What makes hair an "A" or a "B" ?

Type A has a curl pattern, type B has a zig-zag or no pattern.

Thanks, FlowerHair.

I ask because I wonder if certain hair types should avoid heat more often than others. For example, I wonder whether hair types of the "A" category more susceptible to being "burned straight" with flat irons than other hair types.

Gullahgirl you are welcome. I think that all hair types should avoid heat - that's just my opinion. The risk of burning your hair straight depends on how hot your flat iron/hot comb is and how sensitive your hair is. It might even depend on hair products - some products make the hair very hot in combination with a flat iron. Too hot! Your hair looks soft/fine so maybe your hair cannot take as much heat as someone with thicker strands. I like your cornrows! :)

That's an opinion that i totally agree with :). -- jainygirl

I would say 4A like me!

And I don't know if 4A's are more susceptible to heat damage than 4B's but I would recommend staying away from heat as much as possible whether you are an A or a B.
