Hair treatment after removing braids

I've had box braids for almost four weeks. For those who've worn braids, do you apply a special treatment/conditioner before relaxing?

Protein (I like KeraPhix at the moment) and moisturizing (Aveda DR) deep conditioners, but more important wait the required two weeks.

Definitely agree with this. In May I took my braids out after 3 weeks and relaxed two days later... my hair was on fire . I didn't even have my relaxer on 5 minutes before they had to wash it out

Thanks for your replies. I'm used to straight hair. After deep conditioning, I guess I'll blow dry and wait 2 weeks.
