I have just started to go natural, well its almost a year now, since last april, but I still dont know how to do what sometimes, espesially now that I have SO! much growth its really driving me crazy.. I have some questions if any of you have some good idea or tips to how u might be doing it yourself please let me know. some of the questions might sound stupid, but just please help me out.

1. how do I do a good conditioning, and what kind of conditioner would u recomend.

2. what should I do when I go to sleep?

3. what do i do with my growth?

4. does any of you relax your hair, if so, does it brake of more? is it better to be natural or??

5. ( this might be stupid) but what is the dirrence between washing and just rinsing the hair?? what I really want to know is how you rinse it, cuz I know how to wash it.

6. wich Shampoos do you use, and why?

7. is cornrows bad for my hair? does it make my hair brake more?

I hope you have some good advice for a sister.. thank you

1. how do I do a good conditioning, and what kind of conditioner would u recomend.

Usually I just slap on some moisturizing conditioner on my hair put on a plastic cap overnight and wash in the morning. If I use heat I will deep treat for 30 minutes, sometimes hot oil treatments are good especially for natural hair, do so for about 15-20 minutes. THe products I use are ORS Replenishing Pak, ORS Mayo and a favorite hot oil treatment.
2. what should I do when I go to sleep?

Put on a silk scarf, you may have to braid it up since your natural so that it won't tangle, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY TIE IT UP IN A SILK SCARF.

3. what do i do with my growth?

You have to be careful dealing with 2 different textures. Whenever combing or detangling or washing, do so in four separate sections-it'll save you from tangles, tears and headaches. When combing start from the bottom up with a wide tooth detangling shower comb such as a Jilbere comb (U GET AT SALLYS BSS). Be GENTLE when going through it, use your favorite moisturizer, I like Sta-Sof-Fro it helps with the naps.

4. does any of you relax your hair, if so, does it brake of more? is it better to be natural or??

There are many pros and cons of being either relaxed, texturized or natural. I've been all three at some point, personally being relaxed was okay for me I just didn't like bone straight hair so I decided to go natural. While I was natural I realized I wasn't ready so I did a go between, I got a texturizer. A texturizer is simply a relaxer that reduces the curl of the hair not straighten it. As with a relaxer you have to really take care for your hair with the texturizer, you still have to do deep treatments, you have watch for breakage and tangling. Personally I know that my hair grows quicker natural, but it's really up to you if you want to go the chemical route, just know that there are pros and cons of being natural or not.
5. ( this might be stupid) but what is the dirrence between washing and just rinsing the hair?? what I really want to know is how you rinse it, cuz I know how to wash it.

When you wash y our hair I believe on here it means using shampoo and conditioner or conditioner only on your hair. A rinse I think means simply rinsing the hair with water to rid it of dirt, sweat or other impurities.

6. wich Shampoos do you use, and why?

Right now I'm loving Elucence Moisture balance shampoo! THis stuff is great, moisturizes & detangles well and smells like a dream!

7. is cornrows bad for my hair? does it make my hair brake more?

Depends...if you don't get them too tight! Cornrows are perfectly fine and are a great style option. I use them all the time! I think you should check out this site for more tips on growing your hair www.growafrohairlong.com/

1. how do I do a good conditioning, and what kind of conditioner would u recomend.
For moisturising deep conditioner I love Salerm Wheat Germ Oil mask. But adding a bit of castor oil and maybe a touch of honey to your regular conditioner should also work. I use it with a plastic cap and sit under the dryer for 10-20minutes on medium
2. what should I do when I go to sleep?
Use a satin/silk bonnet or satin/silk scarf. For extra protection use a satin or silk pillowcase (in case the scarf slips off)

3. what do i do with my growth?
Make sure to keep your hair moisturised. Perhaps a light misting of leave-in conditioner daily.

4. does any of you relax your hair, if so, does it brake of more? is it better to be natural or??
I relax my hair. I went months without breakage until a stylist messed it up. I have "normal" breakage now but I want to trim and get back to zero.

5. ( this might be stupid) but what is the dirrence between washing and just rinsing the hair?? what I really want to know is how you rinse it, cuz I know how to wash it.
Rinsing is just letting the water run over it.
6. wich Shampoos do you use, and why?
I like Elasta QP Shampoo for relaxed hair. Very moisturizing and detangling.
I also love Rysell Coconut shampoo. (available on sickbay.biz) for the same reasons. And it smells great.

7. is cornrows bad for my hair? does it make my hair brake more?
I like cornrows as a protective style. I don't wear hair extensions for religious reasons, so I just use my own hair.

I hope you have some good advice for a sister.. thank you

Hopefully you will find this helpful.:)
