Hair That's Been Colored

I color my hair every 3-4 months-not to cover gray but to change the color. For about 3-4 weeks immediately after coloring I suffer from huge chunky flakes of "dandruff". I have no other symptoms such as itchy but I am hesitant to use a dandruff shampoo because I don't want to strip the color. What's a girl to do?

The above question is from a co-worker. She thinks it's crazy that I go to a hair forum but now she has a question you ladies. LOL

ok.. i'm saying this as someone who has just started to really care for/pay attention to her hair... maybe she should double up on her moisturizing efforts for those 3-4 weeks after she colors her hair... is she using the same hair color each time??.. if not, it could be her hair readjusting to the different chemicals each time... if she's not, maybe the brand that she's using isn't good for her and her hair has to recover each time...

does any of that make sense??
