I think some insurance co.'s will cover birth control, at least a percentage. You would think it would be beneficial to them in the long run, as it costs a lot less to take pills than to go to all the pre-natal Dr. appts. and to go into the hospital to have a baby.
Anyway, if you want to be off the pill then don't get back on it just because your hair is shedding. It's just temporary. Once your body makes the adjustment, your hair will return to normal.
It sounds as if your body is reacting to the change in hormone levels. As I understand it, the pill ensures (usually) that you will not get pregnant by increasing hormone levels and making your body think you are pregnant. One of the side effects can be increaed hair growth. It is quite common to have a lot of shedding (actual lose of the entire hair shaft) after childbirth. In theory, this is what is happening to your body. When the hormone level in your body returns to the pre-pill state, the shedding should stop.
