Ok maybe not for you but for me it is. For 2 months now, I have used little to no heat. I have washed and conditioned. Kept my hair moisturized. Havent realxed my hair in 8 weeks(longest I have ever gone). I am experiencing MAJOR breakage over the last 2 days. My hair has not done this since I properly started to take care of it in December and now it's at it again. HELP ME!!! I am about to cry over this.:(

Maybe 8 weeks is your cut off point and it's time to relax, I've found that if I wait too long to relax my hair begans to shed also

Have you done a reconstructor or deep protein treatment lately?

Oh my hair does not like those.:( I will follow instructions to the letter and my hair always ends up very hard.

Have you tried Aubrey Organics GPB? It's erally good @ strengthening the hair and it keeps it really soft as well. It's a very mild protein. Also I like to use Original Mane and Tail for strengthening the hair. It can be used as a leave-in for continued strength. You can beat this shedding, just don't panic. :)

Ooohhhhh. :(

I agree with the girls, Aubrey's is a very good one! Doesn't make the hair hard at all!

I was 8 weeks post last week, but I started to shed at like 7 weeks. At that time, I was doing CO washes just twice a week, and shampooing once a week. I started CO washing 6 days a week, and still shampoo once a week. My shedding has stopped completely. I detangle in the shower with conditioner and a wet comb, and I make sure to put cream leave-in on my new growth to keep it moist. I barely lose 6 strands even while combing. BTW, I'm 9 weeks post this week. See my LHCF journal for details if needed. HTH!

I havent had much breakage at all for about a month, and up till then I had recently been breaking like crazy, this is what I have done differently...two days before my last relaxer I did Emergencee and Porosity Control...the results of the relaxer were the best, even my hairdresser said something...I have also incorporated the mint tonic that i got from the recipe board and that has helped my scalp as well as close my cuticles for shine, i just got my hair washed and again my stylist complimented, i even gave her the recipe for the tonic :) ...now, i do porosity control after washes (twice so far) my hair is breaking like almost 95 percent less now...i wish i did this when breakage first started, my hair would be alot thicker by now, but better late than never :)

I got this from the Motions site. HTH

We receive frequent questions about breaking hair and related problems. Here is a recipe that will stop breakage, slow the formation of split ends and thicken broken, frayed hair. It asks that you not shampoo your hair for thirty two days:
1. Rinse hair until the water runs clear.
2. Apply a generous amount of Motions® CPR conditioner.
3. Massage into hair as you would a shampoo.
4. Let it sit for about fifteen minutes.
5. Rinse with room-temperature water.
6. Apply Motions Foaming Wrap Lotion.
7. Apply Motions Oil Sheen.
8. Dry and style your hair.
9. Apply Motions hairdressing every morning.
You will notice a difference immediately. You hair will feel thicker and softer. Repeat this procedure every four days, for one full month.
10. The tenth treatment starts with the same warm water rinse then lather with CPR shampoo.
11. Rinse lightly.
12. Apply a generous amount of Motions CPR conditioner.
13. Rinse with room-temperature water after three minutes.
14. Apply Motions Foaming Wrap Lotion.
15. Apply Motions Salon Sheen.
16. Dry and style your hair.
Continue the shampoo & conditioner treatment weekly until your hair is long and thick as desired.

• If your house is dry, keep a pot of simmering water on the stove during the day for
• Normal pillowcases will absorb oil from your hair, so buy a few satin pillowcases.
• Massage your scalp nightly to promote oil secretion.

Thank you all for the responses but I figured out the culprit. It was some dang hair dye I used the day before the breakage and shedding started.
