Greetings ladies,

Quick question please. Okay, if you use a hair serum, does that mean that you do not need to use a setting lotion too? And would that mean that maybe one would not need a leave in also?? What are the products that you use, when you use a hair serum?? I just don't understand the function of a hair serum I suppose.

Normally I will use a leave in, and also a setting lotion before I wrap or roll my hair. Would adding a serum after that be too much? Sorry, I guess my question was not as quick as I had hoped. Thank you kindly to anyone who responds.

Many blessings,

Serums are usually used for glossifying. They are usually silicone based. They add sheen, smooth the cuticle layer of the hair, act as a sealant, control flyaways, and acts barrier against heat styling and day to day styling. I think most contain sunscreen these days. I would not consider it a "conditioner" or "moisturizer" but more so a finishing and styling product. I use it on dry hair when I comb out my wrap. You can definately still still use a leave in and setting lotion as I would not consider any serum a replacement.

You're welcome. It can be used on wet hair for shine or to have a smoother blowdry, and added protection, I just choose to use it on my hair dry.
