Ok I know I'm doing something wrong. I read that if you mix eggs and olive oil and put it on your hair it causes your hair to be shiny and silky. Was this suppose to be done on pre conditioned wet hair? I mixed it up and add some cholesterol and my hair wasn't having it. It got all hard and tangled. What do you guys think?

I've never done that. I do eggs and conditioner, and egg is a natural protein. So be very careful and gentle, and do a moisturizing DC.

My hair hates eggs. Funny thing is I can use other protien products on my hair. You might need to lose the egg. I use lekair, honey, evoo, cator oil, and spring water. My hair loves it. I hear honey makes your hair soft:rolleyes:.

Ya'll my hair is mad at me. I had to recondition and it still wasn't right. My Panteen moisture mask usually knocks out any tangles, not this time. I don't think my hair likes eggs either.:nono:

A protein overload is a bit hard to bounce back from. It takes me a load of cowashes, and 2-3 DC's over the course of 1-2 weeks..

shiny, yes. silky? no! it's protein. and as others have said, some of us have hair that is protein-picky.

eggs always make my hair hard too, which is why i DC afterwards.

I experienced the same as you, this is the review I wrote under littlegoldlamb's review of using eggs as a protein treatment:
"Well I have some great news, my hair was porous and i considered doing the porosity control conditioner, but instead I did a protein treatment with eggs. I mix one egg with Aveda's reconstructuring treatment and coconut oil. I left it in for 1 hour and 30 minutes. It was alittle hard and dry after washing it out, then I deep conditioned. My thickness has increased and it is taking longer for my hair to dry because it is less porous. It did take me a week to get my hair normal again.but protein doesn't scare me at all, it REALLY worth it ;D. Thanks for the suggestion ;)"

Hey ladies thanks for the advice and comments. My hair acts the same way when I use Organix shea butter conditioner. When I seen my hair was getting hard and the Panteen didn't work I just got out my trusty Queen Helene Cholesterol and used it as a leave in. I used Lekair previously with my egg mix. My hair is nice and soft now so I don't think I got protein overload, but I won't be doing the eggs ever again. It usually takes me a day or two for my hair to dry, but it was almost completely dry by the time I went to bed. I usually air dry my hair in braids or rollersets, but this time I just left it loose and it airdried quickly.
