Hair Repair Irons....just a gimmick or what?

i was just surfing on youtube and i came across these infrared/ultrasonic flat irons. they supposedly dont use heat but help to repair the hair when used with some type of keratin product(not necessarily BKT). i thought that was interesting but i dont really understand how it works nor have i seen it used on any thing close to afro hair so i wonder what the resuklts would be like. plus they are so expensive! i dont know if its even worth it.

is anyone else interested in this? i am trying to find something for at least $100
