Hi Ladies!

Now that it's officially summer, I wanted to ask you if you do anything different with your hair before going to the beach. This is my first summer since I'm "hair-litterate" and I really dont have a clue as to what to do.

Has a habit, at this time of the year, i would normally go to the beach almost everyday, and that means sun exposure, ocean water and wind. I didnt really did anything to the hair, just rinsing it when I got home, and by the end of the summer, my hair was a tangled straw looking mess, and i normally would have to cut a couple of inches off.

This year I havent been yet, just scared about my hair, and its about 40º celsius outside! It is growing nicely, and I dont want to do anything to mess it up.

TIA

i'm going on vacation this coming saturday and i plan on dampening my hair in the morning and just put a thick conditioner mixed with some olive oil in my hair. then i put it in a protective style. i'm also gonna wear a hat.

I bought John Frieda's Life preserver oil that has a sunscreen it it for the hair. Im looking forward to using this on the beach. Other than that, I plan to wash after swimming and rinse after laying out (because of sand and salt air). Then Ill put a leave in with oils and conditioners for styling. Ill have to take my flat iron because there's no way Im sitting under a dryer for 2 hours on a cruise every time I wet my hair. Plus, it will be so hot/humid that a rollerset wouldnt be practical anyways...sorry so long

Thanks Ladies for your answers!

These are great ideas.. I have a friend who coats her hair in olive oil, but I like your idea best Nay007, mixing it up with a conditioner.. I guess just the oil would fry the hair..

I hear you Lunalight with those rollersets... I think I'm going to style my hair with curl activator..

Thanks again..

Hi Yarnie,

I live about 15 minutes from the beach. So right before I leave; I rinse my hair, add a conditioner with a uv blocker, and put my hair in a ponytail. This year I will be using a jason natural conditioner with uv screen (due to the great reviews). Also make sure to take a spray bottle to mist your hair with. I use a 50/50 mixture of water and banana boat hair & scalp protector spf 15. hth
