Hello all!
Today I went to get a professional treatment & blowdry at a salon that specialises in afro/euro hair (i.e. my stylist was white). It was the first time I ever had a white stylist so I was absolutely terrified! :lachen: But he made me feel calm and started to examine my hair. He goes "uh-huh....rite....curls...okkkk...a bit coarse, but manageable...uh-huhhhhh".

Then he looks up to me and starts the questioning "So tell me from start to finish all the products you use".
Me: huh? um...sometimes Pantene, sometimes J/A/S/O/N organics. Oh i use ORS olive oil cream, ermm....Pantene hair mask....oh yeh and Redken Clear moisturiser.
Him: Rite...first thing u gotta do is ditch the Pantene...I wouldnt even use it. Its made by the same companies that make dish liquid and motor oil
Next thing is ditch the Redken, its nice and expensive but honey it aint working. ORS can stay and the organic thing, well if you trying to save the world by staying green then u hurting urself. Try using Keracare...We'll be using it EXCLUSIVELY on your hair today, then tell me how it feels...
Me: rite, erm...ok?

A wash, steam and blowdry later, my hair was done. He flat-ironed it and said: "your hair is somewhat healthy, the ends need to be gone, but we'll wait for your hair to grow a bit more before we pull out the scissors....ok??? But try adopting Keracare, look how shiny your hair is! Keracare baby..."
Me: lol lol thanks, maybe.

I liked the service and the treatment, my hair feels lovely, and I'm glad he didnt use a lot of heat. I bought the Keracare moisturing lotion and i'll gradually wean myself off the other products I have.

I think I'm APL, but not sure...what do you guys think???

WhOoOOooooo!!! :grin::lachen:
I'm hoping to be full APL by end of Dec, a quarter should be do-able rite? lol
Yeh, he dissed the Pantene & Redken saying they were mostly formulated by conglomerates looking to cash big bucks and produce poor quality products. And dare I say it, "mostly with the European woman in mind":eek::eek:

I've ditched the Pantene shampoo & con, simply becuz laurly sulfates irritate my skin. But i'm keeping the Pantene mask darn it...

It's kinda hard for me to tell exactly, but you do look extremely close if you're not already there. Nice hairdresser story!

I say claim it girl. I believe I am at APL but I am going to wait until the end of December to post confirmation pictures! It will be a great Christmas gift:yep:.

Okay, I might get bashed, but it looks like you got another half inch or so to go :look:!

But almost :yep:

Thats what i was thinking :yep: And at a full inch i think that would leave room for it to get "full apl" (imo) and then give you the oppurtunity to get a 1/2 inch or less trim for it to all be even. (Not that it has to all be even, i just think that when the ends are, it is more clear what length it is and it looks more "official")

ETA---That was nice how he told you about the condition of your hair, about the trim thing, and about products. Some of the salons i've went to in the past (pre LHCF) just told me i was using the wrong things without even knowing what it was, told me my hair was unhealthy, and just told me i needed a trim without knowing if i wanted to grow it out first. No infromation.
Keracre is good though, very moisturzing and detangling. But the shampoos have sulfates, and i think the moisturizing lotion has mineral oil and potreuleum (sp)

It seems your head is tilted forward in the pic but it does look close to armpit to me. Get ready to dance in December FOR SURE. I like his advice I love Keracare conditioners, not so much the leave in's too oily.

cant really tell, if your not there you will definetly be by december..

Like your hairdresser story. But i love my panteen so I dont care what he says. :look:

I am happy with the service, he sure put me in my place! He told me to come in once a month for treatment, which i think i'll do. I'm still in shock about how quickly he dismissed pantene & redken. I like the redken products and i've seen massive numbers of positive reviews for redken. I'll stick to J/A/S/O/N tho, its sulfate free and works.
He said the dullness of my hair was attributed to lack of moisture. He said some hair needs protein, some need moisture, u need moisture, and lots of it! Dont do home treaments more than every 3 weeks and keep your hair moisturised at all times! I was like:blush: "ok sir!".....
But overall, i'm content with the way it looks, needs a bit of work still, but i'm on my way! Thankx ladies

I love the Pantene hair mask for DC'ing! I dont think i'll give that up anytime soon:blush:

But as you said, Dec/Jan should be the final weigh-in *ominous music playing*:violin:

Uuuuh...:scratchch Let's call it UANFAPL! (Up A Notch From APL) sooooo Yah! Ur pretty much there!:clapping: You grow girl! I love your hairdresser story and I completely agree with what he said:yep: If I wasnt doing the AAA regimen, that story & Macherieamour would have me switched to Keracare in a flash! I might try it anyway but I definitely hope you do, congrats! & HHG!

UANFAPL! (Up A Notch From APL) :lachen:

I'll definitely keep that one in mind. I'll keep heat at bay and moisture, moisture, moisture!! Lets see how it grows! :lachen::lachen:

Thankx ladies

The pic is kinda dark, so it's hard to tell for sure. But I think you'll definitely be there by the end of December. Congrats!
