I was reading the thread "How does it feel?" and I was feelin the responses from MBL and beyond members who described in detail what it's like to have long hair.

Like so many others, I immediately gave the thread five stars. What it did was spark visualization of our goals and helped us to imagine what it would be like to get there. It was... in fact... Hair porn!

Then I started thinking about how key it is to visualize the goals that we have, whatever they may be and to have a firm beleif that they can be attained ( as evidenced by so many LHCF members)

So what I'm saying is this... I know sooo many people who say that they want long hair but dont really believe that they can have it.

All I can say is I have never reached a goal that I didn't believe in. If you think it won't happen ,then it probably won't.:nono:

BUT...For those of us who are on this journey for the long haul and truly and whole heartedly believe in your heart of all hearts that you can and will have long hair....well I'll see you ladies at the finish line.

Stay Optimistic!

Amen girl, preach! :yep::yep: LOL, I totally agree! There's this song by Karen Clark Sheard and one of the lyrics is "You gotta see it, before you see it, or you never will see it." I apply this to all things in my life.

Great post. Sometimes I get discouraged wiht my hair but then I know I can picture my hair at APL. I know if I couldnt achieve it, i wouldnt be able to picture it,

nodding in agreement :yep:

remember that thread where we PhotoShopped our hair to make it look longer? my pic wasn't even that good, but i made my hair "appear" to be BSL instead of APL. and now i'm at the top of my brastrap.

now i'm planning to alter a pic of my body for my weight loss goal... visualization is key!

yup yup. positive thinking works. otherwise i wouldve saved off all my hair and not bothered with it along time ago.

I think sometimes we get caught up in the name of this forum...Longhaircareforum....it really should be healthyhaircareforum. We all come chasing length and many times end up back tracking and running in circles because we did go about it in the best way. Then we get down and discouraged and then we stop believing. I have been here a good minute now and I have seen people come in with less hair than me and fly past me in terms of progress but its okay. We all have to do things in our own time and we all start at different levels. We need to keep that in mind. I think visualizing your hair goals is a great way to reteach yourself positive affirmation, not just in this but in other aspects of life. I have said it before in other threads but nuturing and caring for my hair as taught me to have more patience in other parts of my life. This journey has definatly not been one of those instant gratification things for me and I think that is what I needed. Seeing my hair change has showed me just how important it is to stay the course. Everything about it has changed, color, texture, thickeness, shine......It doesn't look like the same head of hair.

Whats funny is that when I started, I said I wanted full, shiney, thick hair that was atleast APL length. And you know what, my hair is fuller, it has tons of natural shine and its thick. My hair is healthy now. The length will come. As artemis had said to me before Long hair is just an accumlation of healthy hair and she is right. I see my hair being long and strong and that is what it is begining to be.

i agree. great thread. but i must admit i get a lil hair emotional everytime i realize how thin my natural hair is:rolleyes::ohwell::look:. but i will stay optimistic

Great thread! Thanks for the reminder of the importance of positive thinking when it comes to pursuing any goal.

very thoughtful insight gym. yes healthy hair is key and should come first. and yes taking excellent care of my hair has definately played a role in defining other areas of my life that require patience and persistence.:yep:

visualization is a very big part of it for me.
This reminds me of a conversation I had in HIGH SCHOOL (over 10 years ago) with friends. One girl said (and it always stayed with me) 'you have to think that your hair grows.' Thinking back, that was very mature and obviously profound enough for me to remember after all these years....
thanks for the reminder!
