Has anyone ever had a mineral test done on their hair?

It's where a small strip of your hair is cut from the root, then sent to a lab to test for mineral or toxic elements.

My hair stylist wanted me to have it done. I've been researching it on line, but don't know anyone who has had it done.

Interesting. However, I don't think your search will be easy, as "Hair Mineral Analysis" appears to be closer to what Westernized medical professionals would call "quackery." Anything SEEMINGLY holistic, they run away from. Good luck finding a place that does this. If you find one near L.A., let a sista know. ;)

Oh, my stylist is a triocologist (sp). She's the one who will be doing it. She cuts a piece of your hair and sends it off to the lab. I've seen a report back from the lab and it's very informative. It tells you a lot about what's going on in your body...and what vitamins and minerals your body needs or have too much of.

My PCP says she's heard of it and it will tell you these things. She's going to write me a referral to my stylist, so that my insurance will pay for it. My stylist is the only one in the Triad Peidmont area with this training. You can check for one in your area. You can also call Essence magazine and they will refer you to one in your area.
