I need help! My stylist put perm all theway down my strand, now my hair is breaking off. What can I do to stop the breakage?

I did the Emergencee about a 12 days ago. I wasn't experiencing any breakage until about 3 or 4 days ago. Do you think I should do it again?

1. Fire your stylist.

2. Did you DC with a moisturizing conditioner after the Emergencee? If not, the protein may be contributing to the breakage.

3. Have you used heat since the ends have been double processed?

:perplexed Well I'm not going to fire my stylist but she will never be doing my touch ups again :nono: . I love her to much to just drop her but never again.

I didn't deep condition right after. I used pantene hair mask.

I just deep conditioned with keracare humecto but it wasn't a real deep condition as I just put it on in the shower and left it on for about 10 minutes. My hair does tend to be protein sensitive, it's breaking and I'm only finger combing it. I guess I should sit down and do a really good pre-poo and a deep conditioner.

Oh, I did use heat once about a week ago. I should probably not use it for a while?

Ok, if you used heat right after your ends were double processed, that could be contributing to the problem. You probably shouldn't use heat for a long while because your ends are already the oldest hair and now they've been double processed. You need to build your hair back up.

You really need to deep condition with a super moisturizing conditioner. You said your hair is protein sensitive and you didn't DC right after and haven't done a real one since. DC as soon as you can. And lay off the protein for a while so that you can assess your hair and see where it is.

It sounds like you may have the triple whammy - double processed, protein overload, cold weather - you need moisture, deep moisture and definitely step away from blow dryer/ flat iron. I would suggest doing moisture in a bag under the dryer a couple times a week for two or three weeks. Definitely check out the at-home steam treatment - with a deep moisturizing conditioner, you may be okay.

I don't have access to my hooded dryer right now. Do you think a hot towel will give me the heat I need?

I haven't flat ironed my hair for a bout a week now and I won't use any heat until valentine weekend. I think the heat damage came from my stylist. She used a marcel iron on my hair after it dried.I know I didn't help by flatironing my hair a week later.

I will pre-poo and dc tomorrow after go running *sigh*

If you do flat iron next week (v-day) make sure you use a really good heat protectant. I wouldn't flat iron at all but if you're going to, at least protect your hair.

Also, you could pre-poo/DC while you're running. Just put your condish or whatever on your hair, put on a plastic cap, and then put a hat/beanie on. Your body heat will be more than enough to help your product penetrate. I DC while exercising all the time.

Thanks ladies, I dc'ed today and I am now air drying so I will see the status tomorrow when it is completely dry. If it's still breaking should I dc for moisture or try protein again
