Okay, about 4 yrs ago I had a dark and lovely permanent hair color done in cooperish brown. It was so strong that it made my eyes water. So I didn't get another one since then because I was scared of the damage that I might get. Since then, I've had tons of hair cut (my stylist called it a trim everytime) yet my hair is still this color. It seems to be growing in this color. Is it possible for the hair dye to hair effected my folicals in someway or something... or is it something else like maybe diet or the relaxers I've been using?

The color of your hair is hardwired in your genes (as is your eye color). There are many other factors that may be causing your natural color to lighten. Is your diet lacking in protein? How is your overall diet? Try comparing your newgrowth to your relaxed ends and see if you see a contrast in color. HTH

I compared my new growth (since I've been taking the vits and such) and it is a little darker. I always thought that I was pretty healthy as far as my diet went but maybe not. It could've been stress as well because I was just starting college back then and then I got an acne prob. Hmmmm
