Well, Ladies, I did what I said I was NOT gonna do. I went and got a relaxer! Worse yet, I had it done by someone who I found out, had no idea what they were doing. My hair is breaking like crazy. Soooooooooooo.......I went to Sally's, got some aphogee, and am about to give myself a treatment and a good moisturiser. The breakage seems to be better since I put in some protectiv end strenghtener, but I want to make sure all is ok. I also wanted to let everyone know that I found bone marrow packets at Sally's on sale, 99 cents a pack. I got 4, but I don't think I'll use it today. I saw information and cudos about it on this site last night, and thought I'd try it one day. Wish me luck!

Milkchoc, perhaps she didn't do a good job of neutalizing? You might try shampooing with a neutralizer or even a strong ACV rinse before the aphogee?

Who did your relaxer? Was it a professional, or a non-liscenced person? I know that a NL person can often do a much better job than the so called pros, but I'm curious. id the person leave the perm on too long? Did they use too strong of a perm?
Anyway, I'm glad your breakage is under control. Keep the conditioning up, and this too shall pass!

Good idea Broke007,

I would neutralize first, follow up with the aphogee and then moisturize. Then find another stylist that knows what they are doing, remember to interview them first. Best to you and your hair.

I agree.

Keep up with the deep conditoning on a regular 1x a week basis, this should be one of the many factors to nurse your hair back to health.

I'm sorry your stylist didn't do a good job of relaxing your hair. Sometimes, stylists
only know how to do touch-ups and aren't as skilled at relaxing full heads.
I always ask new stylists for pictures of their work. There is NO reason a good
stylist should not have some type of portfolio. At that point they understand that
I want my hair to come out as good as their best work.

The stylist was supposed to be a professional, she is licensed. Her mom usually does my hair and does a good job, but she was not available that day, and recommended her daughter <sigh>. Trust me, I know better, but u know how we are when we decide to do something....can't wait. Anyway, the aphogee worked nicely. I didn't use the bone marrow because I wasn't sure how it would work. Instead I used keracare's humecto to moisturise.

I'm sorry you relaxer wasn't done properly. I agree with the others and nuetralize followed by an acv rinse then a moisturizing conditioner. One thing I am finding since I relaxed a couple of weeks ago is my hair is drier than it was when I was natural. So I'm having to really moisturize.

WEll, it seems the breakage has subsided. I didn't get the notes about neutralizing before I began, but I did the aphogee and humecto.....used some silken seal before drying, and flat ironed with a little essential oils on the ends.....hair is very silky and smooth now. WHEW! Dodged another bullet!

That has happened to me, but I used ORS carrot oil and olive oil and it works great for me no more shedding or breakage. Like everyone else has said deep condition and moisture. Aphogee is great and so is hair mayo.
