For those with hair color, how are you taking care of your hair and maintaining the color? I have some highlights and it appears on one side to be a little dry, I do put Organic coconut oil on my hair nightly..Any other suggestions?
When I permanently colored my hair, I started using something like dudleys hair rebuilder once a week for 10-15 minutes. Also make sure your shampoo and conditioner are for color treated hair. Since you only color once a year, invest in something made of colored hair to make it last.
Moisture, moisture, moisture!! & Protein! Get a nice THICK moisturizer(or whatever works on your hair!), and constantly deep condition your hair.At least weekly. Keep up with your protein treatments as well, depending on how your hair reacts to protein.HTH
I just read that you only color once a year, which is good, but the hair that's been colored still needs special treatment and nurturing
I use color protecting products; specifically Abba Color protect line. It has a shampoo and deep conditioner and it has been great for my hair. I use the shampoo every other week(I rotate w/another shampoo) and the deep conditioner every week. I also do a light protein treatment with Redken Extreme Rescue Force about once a month. The Abba Color protect conditioner has protein in it (it's a mixture of moisture and protein) so that is why I only use a light protein treatment. This has been my routine since I first colored in Sept 2009.
So far my hair has done well with the color and the products I've been using. Please note that I only colored the front of my hair w/permanent color.
