Hair and scalp won't stay moisturized

Make your own mixture of a leave-in cream and oils. Mixing different oils helps, as well. Some people only use oils, but I prefer a creamy texture to my moisturizer.

I like mixing Jojoba and Emu oils along with Carrot Cream (has parabans though). I recently started blending (yes in a blender :)) Flowers of Sulfur for growth in my mixture because I cannot stand MTG. My scalp really does stay moisturized and my newgrowth is soft.

WGO is great for moisture,as well. I can just use it alone every other day or so and it does a great job. But, sometimes I cannot deal with the smell.

I use S-curl too. Once or twice a week I moisturize overnight with a plastic cap. Works WONDERS for my naturally dry hair!

Have you tried clarifying?? It may be excess build up on your scalp and hair. Try doing an ACV rinse or using a gentle clarifying shampoo. Maybe a really good deep conditioning treatment might help, add some honey and EO's to your conditioner.

The best way for me is Con & Oils under a hooded dryer for 20 mins.
Followed with Con leave in.
Nexxus Line so moisturising.

I find once u do that. You not piling products onto dry hair. I have very fine hair

Try using some raw unrefined shea butter... I have really dry hair and its the best thing Ive found to keep it from having that brillo pad look :p

For a dry scalp try incorporating either flax seed oil or evening primrose oil or both into your diet.

i agree with simone- when i did that the dry scalp was eliminated. For dry hair: try a glycerine spritz with water, little liquid aloe vera or aloe gel, and a little eo. Also use castor oil as a pre-shampoo treatment for your ends and hair -make sure that you concentrate on the ends.

You just take pure shea butter and put it on your hair? Do you heat it or add anything to it? I'm thinking about getting me some.

I agree with the glycerine/rosewater/oil mixtures. I've found those helpful. Are you deep conditioning regularly? Are you using a lot of products that have mineral oil?
Have you tried Elasta QP's mango butter (I like it for softening new growth & it smells nice)? Are you adding oil(s) to your conditioner?
I like WGO mixed with leave-in or alone. I put WGO on my scalp after applying leave-ins and I don't have to put anything on my scalp until next time I wash. It's been keeping my 18+ weeks post new growth very supple and manageable.

Same for me!! :yep: I also put oil (kemi oyl) to seal in moisture. My hair loves it!!! I HATED it at first , but now I can't believe I denied my hair the s curl for so long.

I used to have the same problem. Now, overnight, I put mango butter and WGO on my hair, put on a plastic cap, and tie a satin scarf loosely over it. In the morning, it's nice and moisturized. Before I get ready, I put the hair in a bun, and put the scarf back on, so that it is smooth. Then I wear the bun all day.

To counteract the smell of WGO, I put drops of Jasmine (in jojoba oil) into the WGO. Someone else on LHCF suggested it and it has worked for me. Some other stronger smelling oil might work as well. I got m oil from Whole Foods.

The first thing I tried when I learned about stretching relaxers was S-curl, since my NG was so dry it didn't work to well at first undilluted, so I added distilled water, and a bunch of oil like EVOO, carrot, avacodo, and tea tree along w/ a leave-in strengthing solution, over night my hair done a 360*, I was using a.m, noon, and p.m. I also incorporated Flaxseed oil along w/other vitamins into my regimen, I also just started taking Evening Primrose and drinking more water. Now I don't have to moisturize my hair so much just every other or at least every 3days tops w/o my hair and scalp drying out. Lately I've been using BB Castor oil moisturizer and Africa's Best oil or WGO to seal in the moisture, I like mango butter for my ends personally when in braids or doing the baggie. I also incorporate pre-poos w/EVOO every other poo day, I sit under the dryer for 10-20 minutes depending on my day (and since I sit at the computer while under the dryer the time seems to fly by :) ) Make sure you have a really good moisturizing poo and DC, if you do this cosistantly hopefully your hair will retain the moisture and your natural oils will come out too. This is a little excessive, but for me the only way to keep my ends from being dry is to moisterize and baggie in the morning, moisterize when I get home from work and then put my hair up, and then to moisterize yet again before I go to sleep and wear my satin cap. It's the only way that has worked well for me.
