Had a setback in mid November but not letting it hold me down

I had two crotchet braids back to back. When I took out the first one, I had some tangles but I was too chicken to really comb everything out because I was scared of losing a lot hair. I detangled a bit and left it to the braider to do the rest. Unfortunately she didn’t do much detangling either and just braided over the knots. When I took out the second crotchet braid by hair was really matted and no detangling conditioner or spray helped. I spent over 5 hours trying to take them out. I unfortunately had to pull or cut a lot of them as they were not budging. The result is major lose of hair. Oh well!:( Now I know to always comb my hair not matter what. It’s better to lose some hair daily than to lose a lot at once especially through breakage. It is just hair right. I know it will grow back.:)

I stretched for 16 weeks and relaxed on Dec 10th. I got some of it back but my ends need some trimming which I don’t plan to do until mid next year.

I know you don't want to trim but maybe trimming, stepping up your moisturizing and deep conditioning will help. I can already see a turn around but your ends do need to be clipped. There is so much information on this board to help you while you are going through this. Always remember to detangle your hair properly....I would even wear my hair in plaits after detangling just to keep it detangled before I go get it braided....I hope this helps some....HHG

Thanks guys. I still have a lot to learn. I'm looking forward to the new year and lots of new growth.:)

Thanks for the tip. I might clip it just before my birthday in March.

I am so sorry that this happened to you sweets!!! If it's any help, as other posters have said, it looks like things are on the up and up now, at least! Keep us posted!!! 2011 is your year!

Sorry to hear about ur setback OP, but as everyone else said, your hair looks to have improved between the last few pics. Your positive attitude will take you far in this hair care game. Setbacks are unfortunate, but they do happen. It's all about the way you handle it.:yep:
