I joined here about a couple of weeks ago. I've been dodging her ever since. Well she got slick on me last night and called me from a private #. I told her the truth about how I'm trying to grow my hair out, and how I don't want to use blow dryers , flatirons and etc.

Why did she get super excited?? Told me that heat really hurts the growth of so many black women...So I'm like why didn't you tell me this. She explained she provides a service. If you want a wash and flat iron that is the service I will provide. ...She did try to talk me into no longer relaxing but thats not going to happen right now..

Usually I pay $65 a week to get my hair washed and flat ironed...but she only charges $35 dollars for wet wraps and roller sets:grin:.

She said it's rare that she really gets to nourish someones hair....I was scared to speak up for nothing.

Oh and she told me anybody can grow long hair with care and patience>>>

That's great!

She probably didn't want to scare you off with the healthy scare practices because you know how a lot of ladies think heat and grease will make your hair grow

Well I hope you two continue having a good relationship :)

That is great news. Just watch her like a hawk and speak up if she does something you don't agree with the next time you go to her.

BTW, I viewed your fotki and your hair is beautiful. :yep:

That is just wonderful. I hope my stylist will be just as receptive as yours. Right now, I'm dodging her. I'll probably have a talk with her when I get ready for her to relax my hair.

that is really good . i have a "on the side" stylist that knows all about healthy hair practices. you wouldnt believe the amount of stories she told me about customers who dont want her advice about taking care of their hair. i think its good that everybody talks with their stylists, and comes to an agreement on their hair care plan.

That is what I think people forget. Stylist provide services. Now we have all had experiences when people thought we were crazy for the things we do to our hair..." If you condition it too much, it will fall out"...and the like.

Why do people think stylist don't have people that do the same thing when they come to the salon? I don't think all stylist are stupid. I think that as with everything, some are better than others but there is also a communication problem between us and our stylists 80% of the time. Since they get paid to go what you want them to do, why not tell them what you want. If they don't do it then leave, its just money they missed out on.

Do you go to your doctor and not ask questions, do you not do your own research about your symptoms if you think you might have a problem and go over your finding with them....If you don't think they can help you, don't you go to another doctor? Stylist are no different.
