Largest afro

The largest afro measures 7.3 inches high, 7.7 inches wide and 4 feet 4 inches in circumference. It was achieved by Aevin Dougas, who lives in New Orleans.

You can't blame her if more qualified folks are just not entering the contest. I think some people just never thought to submit an application.

Are they differentiating between stretched and unstretched fro? apparently aevin's hair is unstretched. there are still probably bigger in fotki land or on here though.

I was wondering how they are measuring coily hair - stretched or somewhat stretched - shrunken...
 
@Poohbear, Afro11's afro is huge, but I think when it comes to afros, it's really hard to say whose is bigger because degrees of shrinkage...and stretching that has been applied...can skew the results.

This photo of Aevin that MsLizziA posted the other day makes her afro look bigger than it appears in the Guinness Book photos. Shrinking Afro11's photo and putting it beside the one MsLizzia posted shows you that the difference is negligible if any. Plus, it's hard to tell the circumference just from looking at the pics. They both have hair to die for:

Since photo can be of different sizes and be hard go compare, getting them to be about the same size can help. Otherwise looking at the width of the face and how high the afro appears to be compared to the width of the face cane help one too--hoping they both have more or less the same shape of face and size.
 
Someone just posted another post on Afro being real. If it is real, I don't think this is the biggest.
 
I think she's beautiful and I love her afro.:yep: I was expecting a bigger fro.

I need to check out Afro11's fotki. It looks like we have the same texture.:yep: Thanks for posting her pic, Poohbear
 
The entry for the Guinness competition was on NP and other blogs... if others had seen it and had bigger fros, then they should have signed up, then. :rolleyes: :look:

for the who said the contest was on nappturality, does this mean jury/panel was NP's admin? or maybe I didn't understand well...
 
That first pic didn't look that big to me at first (i mean its big, but world record... eh *first impression*), but then i saw the connection to the other thread with her that was posted earlier (i saw it before but didn't know they were the same person as i didn't pay attention to the names) and yeah, i can see how she won. I stans for her fro!

(actually, when i saw the first post here, i immediately thought "that other girls hair is wayyy bigger" not knowing they were one in the same, lol) That first pic just looks shrunken, but her other hair fro porn looks hawt.

Cant wait to see next years hair submissions to Guinness world records!.

If she officially has the title, I don't get why there's doubt if it's real. Guinness usually verifies things before they make it official.

Edit: Oops, I think I misunderstood your comment, didn't know "Afro being real" was referring to another thread. I thought you were referring to Aevin's hair here since I've already seen a few :perplexed comments about it being fake. Sorry. :)
