After 1.5 years of transitioning I finnally did the big chop yesterday. I went to a Natural Hair salon called Nature's Crown and I must say that I LOVE my new hair. I have lots and lots of coils. I did my first successfull wash n' go and my hair is sooooo soft.

Even though I lost about 4 inches of relaxed ends I am pleased with my overall progress.

Thanks to the ladies here at LHCF I would not have made it this long.

These are just a few of the products that you all have reccomend that have helped me out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Pantene PRO-V: S&S and R&N
2. Lustrasilk Cholesterol Conditioner with ALOE (GREEN)
3. Motions Lavish Leave In Conditioner
4. Pure unrefined coconut oil
5. Elasta QP Conditioning Shampoo (Sulfate free)!!
6. IC Hair Polisher Gel with Sparklelites

Thank you all. I don't have a digital camera but I do have a good scaner so whenever I get my pictures developed I will post them.

I think that picture albums are a great tool for motivation here. I could not have made this long without your albums of inspiration. Thank you all for posting them here and when I get a chance I will try to do the same.

Good for you! I wanna see pictures too.
Transitioning for 1.5 years, wow! Now that you've done the big chop and are all natural, you'll have to change your name.

ConGRAAAATTUlations!!!! Wow...1.5 years of transitioning...how long is your hair now?

What was your secret for making it so long?

Thank you all. I swear that the only reason why I was able to go so long was because of the conditioners that I mentioned earlier. Without them I would not have been able to comb my hair after washing it.

It was hard, I suffered from scab hair, my hair was constantly dry and frizzy and I could not find that one miracle product that would solve all of my problems.

I basically wore my hair in a ponytail (ponytail method)and for special occasions I would wear a twist out or I would rollerset it and then flat iron the roots. The problems with the twist outs was that they only lasted one day.

After the cut my hair felt brand new. I considered myself a 3C before the chop now after I would say 3B with pencil sized coils, when brushed I get nice waves. I don't know how to explain it but my hair now holds moisture and with just a little Fantasia IC polisher gel I get a soft hold with lots of shine.

My hair reaches my shoulders when wet, but due to shrinkage when dry it hangs to the bottom of my earlobes.

I was a little hesitant when the beautician started to cut my hair but the results are worth it.

To those who are transitioning don't give up. If you think that your hair is dry and dull it might just be the relaxed ends making it that way because it was for me. I think that 1.5 years was long enough.

I know that I have been a little quiet here on the board, but now I feel that I can really share some valuable info. with all of you. If you have any questions please contact me.

Thanks again...

That's wonderful, TransitioningK. I'd prefer the long transition option, too. Congratulations on staying the course!

Congratulations. What a feat! I can't imagine transitioning that long. Which products helped you the most? I get so frustrated dealing with two textures. If I could find the right combination of products it would be a huge help.
