My prom is comming up and i definitely what a glamorus weave but i would not make a big hair move w/o the boards info so help me out. here is the situation

-i want an up do with either chinese bangs (think elise neal on all of us) or a swoop bang( think aaliyah)
-I am a 4a/b natural and don't wish to perm my hair. is this style still possible? and will it damage my hair.
- Is it safer/less expensive to buy the weave yourself or do most salons order it for you.
-If i do buy it where should i get it from. i read the thread about questionable weave and i am a little concrened.
- and what type should i get. i want a sleek look and high quality hair so that my style will last even after prom (cuz if i take it down to soon . . . . this will be my mom --->

- how should i look for a salon? i have two in mind, but i know that you guys talk about consultaions and stuff. how should i go about that?

This is my first real weave ya'll and i want it to look good. plus i'm trying to ask this really bomb guy( see off topic discussion for that one

get a sew in weave. you hair us braided underneath. tho you might have to leave some of your hair out and if you dont want a perm you will have to flatiron it to help it blend. tho if you find a good enough stylist she can hide the track and not leave any hair out. i wouldnt do my own weave for my prom if didnt know what i was doing.

ive never seen a salon that provides hair. you usually have to bring your own and that makes it cheaper. i dont know about quality of hair. there is a thread on it where someone posted a site. scroll back 2 or 3 pages. i believe blaxalrose posted about hair types.

you should do a search for weaves, ther have been quite a few posts on it in the last few weeks so people might not answer you

Absolutely. Ask for a full sewn-in weave, that way, you won't have to worry about your own hair being exposed and having to figure out ways to conceal it without using heat.

Most salons do not provide hair. Even if they did, I'd prefer that you enjoy the experience of being in the BSS and picking out the colors that you want.

Whomever does your hair, tell her the look you are going for, and ask that she recommends a specific brand of weave and the hair type (such as Yaki or Silky Straight).

I do not suggest Yaki for this 'do at all. I think you'd fair better with the European silky straight types, but not Yaki. It may be too thick, and Chinese bangs aren't supposed to be thick. Just my honest opinion.

Call on the phone and ask them who's the best weaver up in that jont.

j/k But seriously, ask who what person they'd recommend for weaving, and tell them that you'd like to set up a consultation with her (even better, ask them to put her on the phone). If all goes well and you are prepared, you may be able to get your hair done that same day. But, plan ahead. Weaves take some time for the stylist to do, and she has to adjust her scheduling in advance for her other clients.

I oil my scalp at least once a week with Hot 6 Oil. I'm not very consistent when it comes to shampooing in a weave I'll have to admit, but can't possibly go longer than 3 weeks or

I'm wearing a weave now, and for the first time, I tried Garnier's Shampoo for dry/damaged hair, and I must say that it is great. It lathers nice and feels creamy. Once the lather gets going, it's very easy to massage the shampoo under the cornrows, the best shampoo I've ever used while in a weave. My hair felt very clean too, although I know it probably wasn't since it is impossible to have a squeeky clean scalp under cornrows - not to mention, I get flakes like nobody's mama. I have synthetic Bohemian curly hair, and all I used on it is the new oil by Botanicals. It smells nice (like cough medicine
