I did a noo poo with lustrasilk aloe cholesterol left it in overnight. in the morning i rinsed it out and rather than using my regular leave in(african royale daily doctor) i experimented and took a scoop of LUST in my hands and distributed it throughout my hair to use as leave in. no other products, gels, pomades etc. WOW! i had the most amazing shiny moisturized detangled coils/curls throughout my head and they stayed that way all day ! two days later my hair is still soft and i havent re wet or added any other products. i was able to wear a wash and go style and it really helped my hair hang "south" and cut down on the poof factor i didnt have my hair going "east and west" direction like it usually does lol. this method is definitely a keeper when i want to wear it out and down. i think its weird that the LUST works better as a leave-in rather than a rinse out for me

Just curious. I haven't ever tried LUST, but, heard a lot about it on this board. Does it say on the package that you can use it as a leave-in?

Thanks!

Hmm... that's interesting

. I'm gonna try this the next time I do a "wash & wear." Wow; yet another use for the beloved LUST...

it doesnt state that it could be used as a leave in, but lately ive been wanting to experiment with my rinse out conditioners to see how they feel when left in. i tried this with vo5 last time and my hair felt gummy a few hrs later.

Hi baby blue

I wear my hair out everyday using various types of conditioners. Some works better than others and I can totally relate to that whole east, west thing!!

Congrats on finding something that is working for you! It's an exhilarating feeling isn't it?? Sometimes less is better.

What is Lust? I had assumed that it was an abbreviation for Lustrasilk...

I have 4a/b hair too and do tend to get great curl definition but extremely dry hair. If LUST didn't dry your hair out I need to know where I can get soma' that!

Ya know,
I bought LUST about a month ago..I can't find it anywhere!! I would like to try it as a leave-in as I did not notice it did that much for me the one time I used it and rinsed it out...now if I could just find the darn thing!

caramelkiss- yes sometimes less is better. im begginning to realize that my hair looks better when i use less products post-wash. but its good to know i finally discovered a product to combat the "east/west" phenomenon

to all the other ladies, i think ive found a routine i can finally stick to. like i said it sucks as a rinse out but works great as a leave in (IMO). If you have kinky type 4 natural hair it wouldnt hurt to experiment with this to see if it works for you. i suggest u buy a sample size first so your money is not totally wasted if u hate it.

Thanks babyblue. I have a sample packet left. It sucked as a rinse out conditioner for me as well, but I will give this leave-in thing a try.

One more question: Did leaving in the Lustrasilk all night make your hair hard the next morning? I did a test on a small patch of hair and it made mine a little crunchy. Do you think leaving it in for an hour or two will still give me the same effect as leaving it in all night?
Thanks

egan 26: no my hair wasnt hard at all. it was very soft and moist feeling the next day. which formula do you use? i used the green one with aloe. protein conditioners tend to make my hair crunchy and dry, but this one although it contains keratin protein far down the list doesnt give me hard hair at all. i think leaving it on for 1-2 hours should be more than fine because the strands will only absorb so much conditioner anyway. also i found leaving conditioners on with a plastic cap before rinsing helps to trap moisture and heat inside and increases softness rather than conditioning with the hair exposed to air which dries out quicker(or at least in my case).

delightfulflame: try it out. its always good to find alternate uses for products u have laying around, you might fine it works better used differently.

good luck!

I also have the aloe Lustrasilk. Maybe I have product buildup. I'll clarify the patch and try it again. Thanks for all the tips!

I bought the lustrasilk with aloe coz it was cheaper than the Le Kair but when I looked at the ingredients it had the word alcohol at least three times. Is that okay? I guess so being as it's being rinsed out huh? I'm thinking of giving it away. But if you guys think it's fine I'll continue to use it.

lustrasilk has a lot of traditionally "bad" ingredients
like alcohol and mineral oil and i was hesistant at first but i love it and it works really well. i guess its not so much the individual ingredients but how they work together in a formula (i hope that made sense

)

a little update though: i tried the same technique with pantene hydrating curls as a conditioner wash and used lust as a leave in and lets say the results had me
