Hey there, Fyb. I thought she was texlaxed by her comment here: http://public.fotki.com/redhotlala/all_about_me/ponytail_1.html but I could be wrong. I'm not sure if that's her air dried pony or if she had washed in braids.

Yeah....she has a journal on her fotki that gives her regmine and it includes how she relaxes. Unless she has updated it since I looked at it last. Regardless she does have very beautiful hair. Both her and her sister!

Thanks for sharing Sheba1. by the way, the pics in your sig are great. You have lovely hair!

Aww, thank you so much, Nathansgirl! I'm a BKT'd natural. There are more pics in my fotki.

I thought texlaxers use relaxers also, just leave some texture in?

I had never heard of texlaxers until this year so I have no idea. When I look at her routine in her journal it's what I use to do back in the day (and what I thought everyone did) except I used PCJ for Kids. I always said I had a relaxer. So maybe I was "texlaxing" and never new it?? Maybe that is why when I transitioned I couldn't tell the difference between my relaxed/texlaxed hair and my natural hair. This is all so confusing. :ohwell: I've recently heard of bone straight relaxing too which I can't seem to figure out. I'm guessing that means you leave it on longer?? Since I've found the hair boards I have heard of so many new things. Pretty cool!

Here is what she said in her journal

Relaxers:

My hair has been relaxed for 14 years. I relax with Soft and Beautiful Relaxer or Gentle Treatment Relaxer. I coat the hair with a lot of Vaseline or grease before I apply the chemicals. I put the grease on the previously relaxed hair, not the new growth. This keeps the hair from getting super straight, over processing, and overlapping. I relax every 3 months. Sometimes I can go 4 or 5 months.

Cosign! The hair boards are so cool! Oh... and confusing, indeed :spinning:. But we're all figuring it out together. I did a lot of reading about it when I first came to LHCF because I originally came to figure out how to have healthy relaxed hair. I'd been natural for nearly 15 years and I was tired of my hair. But I'm so glad I found LHCF when I did because I didn't even know my natural hair! I learned more about it and ended up trying many things. Now I wouldn't even consider relaxing at this time in my journey.

Texlax is short for texture relax, or leaving texture in while relaxing. Bonelax is when you relax bone straight. You're correct in that it means leaving it in longer, smoothing more, until the hair would be bone straight or without texture left in.

From your description it sounds like you were instinctively texlaxing :yep:

I swear I just go to her fotki and drool. I love her hair. Ok back to studying...

I love her hair. I have stalked her fotki for some time now. Her little sister's hair is amazing too.
