Thank you for all your supportive comments. I decided to wash my hair thoroughly with a nice, smooth, detangling shampoo. I used Keracare Detangling and Hydrating Shampoo. Then I moisturized with UBH Lotion Creme Moisturizer thoroughly and sat under a low setting under the hair drying. When it was half dry I put on lots of Chi Silk Infusion and let dry most of the way dry. Then I flat ironed with the MaxiGlide. I used the steam setting to get the hair to its full length. Then I evaluated the situation.
It doesn't look quite as bad as I thought. I think because my hair is mostly texlaxed now, it was a lot of shrinkage that I mistook for breakage. Granted it is somewhat broken on the right side, and there is a long tail that has grown faster in the left nape that is two inches from BSL, but in general it wasn't drastic as when it is just air-dried. I rarely flat-iron, so I have to remember not to judge my length unless it is fully flat-ironed.
So I decided what I am going to do. I am only 8 weeks post on Friday, but I am going to get a touch-up, let him blow dry and flat iron to its longest, and let him trim off 1/4 inch and slightly angle the front to get a fresh start.
I think I will feel better after that and my hair may zoom. You know how it is after a fresh trim....your hair feels so good, ...you just want to keep the blunt ends forever.
After that I am going to do a Lonnnnngggg stretch. Possibly 16 weeks or more.
