You did what? Ok.. I'm going to paste a post I made in the "MTG Controversy" thread:

By the way, I'd like to add that (most likely) because of this "controversy" and people e-mailing and calling the company, the price has risen.. AGAIN. I know for certain that when I first ordered directly from Shapley's, the price was $16.95 plus shipping. I visited the site yesterday and it is now $19.95. According to some other threads I've read, the price used to be cheaper than the $16.95 I paid.

I found another site where I believe I paid $14.95 plus shipping but I don't see how they'll be able to offer that price for long if the company itself has raised theirs.. maybe not for distributors but I don't know.

Moral of the story.. if you want to use it, use it but is it really necessary to contact the company and tell them about how much your human hair has grown as a result of using their product? Or if you want to know all of the ingredients in the product.. why mention that you want to use it on your own hair? If you're that worried about it, don't use it.

Another concern of mine is that they'll change the formula or make a new one. I like my MTG just the way it is. I don't want it to get all humanized like the Mane 'n' Tail products you see in the stores now.

This wasn't meant as a mean-spirited rant but I don't want to be paying sky-high prices for something that I know (and many other women know) works. And no, $19.95 a pop isn't sky-high but who knows what they'll raise the prices to if sales keep increasing. Personally, I made sure to stock up.

So please, stop contacting the company!

I think this should be a thread within itself, not just MTG all products. This is one of the number one reasons places jack up their prices and change formulas. They feel liek the demand is up and they capitalize off that.

ITA: I'm older than most of you ladies, and my mother used to use MTG on my hair in the 60's. It's the same today as it was then. I wouldn't use the new formula either. As you said keluric, it will probably be a watered down humainzed version like Mane 'n' Tail.

Thanks to everyone here who currently uses MTG, I was reminded of what it was and ordered some a few days ago.

I'll be sticking to the horsey version. No fragranced up MTG for me! Ijust purchased another 3pack from a feedstore on ebay.

I know that Mane n Tail is a watered down version of their shampoo...so has anyone used the MTG shampoo if there is one?

i'm not a MTG user but somehow I knew the "good news" had to do with the smell. Congrats! I guess....:perplexed

Not to be a killjoy, but ....I hate it when companies change formulas, because its never the same or as good as the original. I'll stick with the original one.

I'll just have to smell like cooked bacon! :lachen:

Yayyyyyyyy! This is excellent news.

Keluric - I feel you on the price increase.

But it got me thinking, if they can make it not smell like bacon...so can I!
Several ladies have posted about various methods to get rid of the smell.
I plan to look into these once I start again in January.

The human version will be my back up plan for sweet smelling MTG. :)

I was thinking about buying the powder form from Baldwins. Has anyone used it? Is it as effective as Shapley's version?:look:

I purchased some mtg yesterday after reading so many good reports about it, but I was scared to use it because it was made for horses. So I called the company that manufactured it to ask if it was okay for human to use it on the hair. They told me that they had it analyze and there was nothing it to harm human. It was perfectly safe and that they had gotten some many phone call over the past year of how well it was helping people's hair that they are coming out with a product just for our hair. It will be basically the same product but it will not the same smell. Yes folks it will smell better. Isn't that great. I can't wait. They said it will be here real soon.:D
Oh sweet..please keep us up to date on when it's out. Thanks :)

I really do hope that they don't change the formula....I hate new and improved except for Tide I always find it to be new and crappy

I'm sorry for posting twice, my computer was acting crazy on me. So is it true that they have been saying that their new product will be out soon. I was getting my hopes up.

Yeah but it hasnt been THAT long. Soon could mean 6 months or 3 years. New product formulation, testing, patents, approvals etc. takes time. Like others have mentioned I'd be leery of it's effectiveness. Plus I personally wouldnt want to be a guinea pig for anything thats been out less than 2 years.

I'll stick with the original stinky version :bud:

Thanks for the info, but I wont be falling for the new version either. I am stickinng with the bacon smell. It works!!!

Thats excellent news because MTG really does stink. I dont know how some members say they like the smell. It smells sooo bad. I will buy the new formula for sure.

I still have the old one just sitting there, I really cant bring myself to use it.

I agree, I stocked up too. over a year ago. I don't use the MTG because the smell gets on every freaking thing and I can't take smelling it while I am at work. I brought it for 10 dollars. I don't think I will be paying 19.95 for it. I rather keep struggling along. I haven't used my mtg since December 2005. But eventually I will start using it again. I wanted to say something about those people that just can't keep nothing but I won't. Most of us knew they would raise the prices when others started calling the company like crazy and the emails were flying around. Its terrible. I wish a sticky was made so everyone that comes on here will get all the answer from the begining and not start the same battle again and again. I for one will not likely be trying the new MTG either
