It just erks that heck out of me when someone say she got good hair.:wallbash:
What is good hair? What is bad hair? :nono::nono::nono:

I get that comment all the time but I've learned to tune people out and keep it moving. I feel like it's not worth wasting my breath on.

It that mentality that doesn't let people change their minds. When I share what I do with my hair I get the "But you havethat good hair, though" I tell them but you have that good hair, too. Just a year ago you wouldn't have said I had good hair. I just take care of it now.

I wish they'd realize that "Good Hair" is well cared for hair. But most of us had to make that realization on our own. So I say my piece and leave.

I know I was in the salon and this girl was like I know I have that long good hair and she was swingin I was just looking like WTH. She was barely SL. I used to openly offer my opinion but I just talk to friends that ask family and my LHCF family.

Any hair is good hair! Good hair, regardless of texture, is hair that is taken care of. I had to overcome that whole good hair/ bad hair thing in my own home growing up. Now that I have stopped relaxing my hair my Granny actually told me "you can do that because you have that good hair." I just shook my head. :ohwell:

Good hair is healthy hair regardless of texture or length. I hate when people say they got good hair or they got bad hair. Just b/c the hair is long doesn't make it good hair or having big ringlets. The hair could be severely damage and that is not "good hair".

Its like having hair that seems less african is better is and hair that resembles more european seem to be a better choice. Or if their hair has smoother texture, they quickly try to explain why it is that way like I have 1/16 native american in me or some other racial makeup that is far in between.

I just believe everyone should just be happy that at least hair is growing out of their scalp b/c I person who is suffering from alopecia is not going to care if the hair is good or bad just along its hair.

Sorry for going off tangent but this subject annoys me to end sometimes.

IMO, there is no bad hair. Good hair is in the eyes of the beholder weighed by any previously programmed notions one might have about it.

My mom still calls curly hair "good hair"! I've tried to get her to change her mentality when it comes to hair, but to NO avail, she still holds onto her outdated views. My mom has 3c/4a fine hair and she is always calling it knotty and wanting me to relax it or flat iron it BONE straight! I on the other hand have mostly 4b fine hair and choose not to beat it into submission to keep it straight...she is always telling me I need to relax and flat iron! My mom is truly my biggest critic and since in her eye's my hair does not fall into the "good" hair category she refuses to compliment my progress, outside of telling me my hair looks thin (I do have naturally fine strands with medium/thin density) or comparing my hair to people with thick hair.

I get annoyed by that comment too. I simply say, all healthy and well maintained hair is good hair and then I keep it moving.

It's hard to believe your mom doesn't love your hair. Everytime I see your siggy I pause--your hair is beautiful!

I wish I could let you borrow my mom just in this matter. My mom would love your hair. My mom always thought I was messing up my hair with relaxers. She had 2 something hair, but she always made me think my hair was something special even though it was not like hers.

When I ask what is good hair they can't explain.... :nono:
I just look and smh b/c it would be a never ending response.

GOOD hair is hair that behaves when you make it do something. Textured hair fits well in this category because its versatile enough to be molded any way you want it.

Naturally pin straight hair is a pain to curl and do styles with. Honestly when I was younger, I wanted this hair but I soon realized that you cant do jack crap with it. The curls fall fast, you cant easily achieve big hair, etc. Therefore, that hair isn't GOOD to me. (shrugs)

GOOD hair = HEALTHY hair no matter what the texture is.

Bad hair is hair that's gone to the dark side and committed a laundry list of crimes; starting with not having any discernible Indian or White features (at least none that you could lie about with a straight face), and has threatened to break a comb/brush. The biggest offense bar none committed by bad hair is that it is the dreaded n-wordy 'nappy'. While it's law abiding good hair counterpart is highly desired and comes with a stellar pedigree of being European, hispanic, Asian, Indian ( insert different combinations here). Good hair is considered rare, exclusive, tres chic, and very beautiful. Sadly a lot of blacks feel this way.
