I'm planning to start a regime of shampooing once a week and no pooing (CW) twice a week. I have type 4a/b hair. Although I realize that everyones hair might take to things differently, can anyone suggest a conditioner that is light enough/moisturizing enough to CW with? Thanks in advance...

Hi Janet'!

Welcome to LHCF. Didn't I read somewhere that you were asking about how often one should wash their hair while transitioning? I wouldn't recommend washing more than once a week (CW or otherwise) because the hair will be prone to breakage at the line of demarcation. No need to subject it to manipulation more often than necessary :) .

As far as CW washes... I like Suave conditioners (Tropical coconut, Humectress and Biobasics). I have mostly 4a hair (maybe some 4b). I tried the VO5 conditioners as well...but they didn't do quite as well to me...as the Suave.

Good Luck with your hair goals!

I second the suave biobasics. I also love their Sleek in the orange bottle. I also use Mane n Tail cond. 2 to 3 times per week after cw. Good luck to you!

Hmm I like:

All the VO5 conditioners except for blueberry. Honeydew is now the fav of the month

Suave esp Milk and Honey and the Humectant knock off.

Garnier Fructis

Aussie knot forgotten and Aussie Moist

The old Pantene Hydrating curls

Lustrasilk Aloe Vera Cholesterol

Herbal Essences with Hawafena conditioner
Suave Milk and Honey is light...maybe too light for my taste
V05 Blueberries and Cream
Suave Humectant is great!!!
Daily Defense Tender Apple
Pantene Hydrating Curls
Lekair Cholesterol
Suave 2 minute Recovery can be used daily
um....I like cheap conditioners since I go through them fairly quickly.

Salon brands are the way to go,Matrix Biologe,REDKEN Extreme Farouk Biosilk
Nexxus Hummectres are made to a PH level to not do damage to the hair. You SHAMPOO not wash ever 4 days to remove the pollutions the environment put there if you have a clean scalp to keep the pores open and breath.

By all means, if your pocketbook can support the salon product habit (all are not able),then go for it, but at least you have a wide variety of suggestions to choose from.

Not to say anything against hairmaster, who is a haircare professional and knows what they are talking about, but my mom has beautiful type 3b waist length hair and she has never used salon products. She's 83. I say that just to say that no matter what you use, you gotta treat your hair with love when you handle it.

Pantene Hydrating Curls is my new fav conditioner. I've tried Suave milk and honey and like that as well. The milk and honey is a little lighter that the hydrating curls.

I like Vo5 Blueberries and Cream, Suave Milk and Honey, Salon Selectives Completely Drenched and if I can ever find it Daily Defense Tender Apple.

while transitioning i used fructis for dry damaged hair...it was really good...still is too...i wasnt into a lot of products transtioning

Although I don't do CO washes I would like suggest Vo5 Blueberries and cream, Strawberries and Cream, Free me Fresia, Kiwi and lime (clarifying) and also Suave milk and honey (moisturizing) , citrus smoothie (shine) and Lavendar (moisturizing).

I was using Nexxus Humectress everyday for CO washing for a month, and it was fine, but I got tired of it, sort of. I use Aussie 3 Minute Miracle and Aussie Moist for CO washes now. They're rich conditioners.

You Get What You Pay For In The Word Cheap..

well if you can afford to restock on nearly $20.00 bottles of conditer weekly then be my guest and send them our way :)Thats why the cheap conditoners are used. better $4.00 a month than $80.00 ya know?

My past and current fav's:

Pantene Hydrating Curls
Suave Humectant (Nexxus Knock-off)
Suave Milk & Honey
Daily Defense Tender Apple
Various VO5's

I like the V05 conditioners

Right now I am just trying to use what I have at home, so I am using Biosilk Hydrating Conditioner

Since I am washing almost daily in the Gym I will be using Nioxin Scalp Therapy because I like the clean feeling it gives my scalp. It pricey but I get a good deal off ebay.

Daily Defense Apple Tender
Daily Defense Water Lily
Suave Milk and Honey
Suave Tropical Coconut
CON Nourishing Conditioner

v05 free me freesia
kiwi and lime
strawberries and cream

the suave milk and honey is a little too moisturising for a CW wash for me

Hi Ladies,

So, it seems like cost isn't really a factor, as long as the conditioner is moisturizing/hydrating and non irritating to the scalp? I think that I've narrowed down my choices, thanks a bunch :-)

I like Suave and white rain conditioners for my CO washes. My favorite one by Suave is the lavender one. I like to add a drop of the Herbal Essence one for dry hair in there for the smell.
