I commented to a friend yesterday that my hair is quite a bit longer on the left side, assuming that the trim I had a few weeks ago must have been a bit uneven. My friend said that could be the case, but said that most people find that their hair has a 'good side' that is stronger/thicker and grows better than the other. She mentioned kids wearing bunches and how one is always bigger than the other, no matter how even the parting seems to be. This isn't something I'd ever heard of before; has anyone else? Is there any truth to it?

I notice that the left side of my hair is thicker than the right side. I read another thread years ago that discussed the issue. Folks were trying to figure the reasons for it. Results of hair wrapping at bedtime, sleeping on one side more often, dominant hand styling the opposing side of the hair with more control...etc.

I now see that my head shape and hairline (all the way around) isn't necessarily symmetrical. I figure that must be the reason. Ever notice how you look different depending on which side your hair is parted on?

It was creepy once I looked at my head/hairline so closely.

I have that issue too. My left side is finer and longer. My right side is thicker but shorter. Someone told me it could be that I favor my left side more ie maybe gentler when styling.

I dont know why this happens.

An ex friend once told me its because of the heart being on that side (could be bs IDK). My left breast is bigger also lol. My left eyebrow is bushier than the right and the left side of my hair grows faster..

When I was relaxed, the left side of my hair was longer and there was a difference in the density. Now that I'm natural I haven't noticed.

The hair on my left side has always been longer even when I was relaxed. Now that I'm natural it's longer but I've also noticed its thicker. My mother and a few other people have said I must sleep on my right side and that's way it's shorter. It's not that big a deal for me.

Interesting that it seems to be everyone's left side! @pelohello I'd wondered if it was something like that; I'm right handed and can reach my left side much more easily for applying products and styling etc. Is anyone else who's said their left side is longer right handed?

Never thought about it...but if I had a choose a "better" side I'd go with the left side. It's not necessarily longer (I don't think) but definitely denser. Even my busted hairline (side widows peaks) is fuller and less obvious on the left side. This may also be why I prefer my off-center part to be slightly left so the bang hair goes to the right and balances things. Hm...I just realized all this!

I'm a rightie by the way.
