I noticed that some women on the boards use glycerin on their hair. Can someone please explain the benefits and how to use it. I saw it in the store this afternoon and wanted to purchase it, but wasn't sure why I should use it--prolly the product junkie coming out in me.

Thanks!
Elliot

Well, a lot of people use S-curl, which has glycerine in it.
These products help keep your hair moisturized. I use pure glycerine because I thought it was a cheaper alternative to buying the liquid s-curl. I bought 64oz of glycerin from Camden-Gray (online oil place) for like only $8, and this container has lasted forever.

In a spray bottle, I mix some glycerine, a little of my 911 emergency leave in and plenty of water (lately I've been trying it with distilled water). I spray this on my hair every night after my daily rinse. Sometimes, I spray this on my hair during the day as well.

I'd also be interested in hearing how fellow members use glycerin I bought a bottle yesterday and I'm itching to use it!

I mix it with water and elucence moisture balancing conditioner and spray it on my hair. It works well when I wear it curly.

So I can use it combined with water as a daily moisturizer? Does it make your hair soft like the curl activator?

Can someone please ballpark how many parts water to glycerine to mix together. Also, what about adding essential oils? (You know I like my oils!)

I use 1-2 tablespoons of glycerin
1 tablespoon of Elucence Moisture Balancing Cond.
6-8 oz of water

This must be shaken before use, otherwise you'll end up with glycerin alone squirting out. I think it must sink to the bottom.

Yes, it makes my hair soft like curl activator. I used s-curl last year, but decided to make my own concoction. Last summer I did add orange essential oil to mine for fragrance.

Some people use a lot more glycerin, but more makes my hair feel kind of sticky.

I also use glycerin, I mix it in my rinse, which I use daily. I noticed that my hair is very glossy, also it feel much more moisturised. I make up a solution of long and strong, glycerine, aloe vera gel and distilled or bottled water, I shake thoroughly and pour over my hair.

Yes...it is really a great mosturizer...I bought some this weekend for $3.49 in Duane Reade and mixed it with water and some conditioner J.Freida..and my hair is still mosturized and soft...it is great for my braids..since some of my hair is exposed...
