I'm on this site after I thought I knew enough about hair to spend more time on other hobbies. Well a bad trim set me all the way back and now I'm starting over. I wear a wash n go and I think to meet my goals I'm going to have to give it up. Does anyone have low maintenance alternatives? I'm not against braids but wigs are very unlikely. I run and swim so it needs to be able to handle that. Thanks!

Thanks,

When I was natural I kept my hair stretched though braid/twist outs because wash n go was too damaging to my hair. No matter what, my hair would get super tangled and it would take an ungodly amount of time to detangle without breaking off my hair. I'm not sure about swimming with braids due to the need to shampoo out the chlorine. Can you do quick protective styles between your workout schedule (buns, etc)?

I would do buns. And co wash.

havilland thank you so much for this post. I believe deep down that cowashing and bunning is the secret to retaining length.

Original Poster, having an active lifestyle can be tough when dealing with your hair. Try the bunning with spin pins or pantyhose scrunchies.

I'll get back on that starting this weekend. I haven't bunned on the regular since I BC'd.

buns are not working for me either. I'm still bombarded with single strand knots. I'm natural now but I'm know sure for how long since I have to keep cutting off my growth. how do you guys deal with these knots??????

I honestly had to keep my hair stretched all the time or my hair would be in knots now matter how I styled it.
