Giovanni Direct Leave In

Ladies how do you use your's? Do you use it daily or only on wash days? I've just started using it you see and I don't want to overload on it as I hear less is more. Also I am trying to keep it simple, basically shampoo, condition and leave in. No oil oils makes my hair dry.

I use giovanni direct as a leave in after washing. It doesn't really matter though how it is used. There's nothing in it that would or does harm my hair. I may just get build up but honestly i don't need to use it more than once a wk on wet hair after a wash b4 my sealant.

Also if oils dry your hair out try a butter. I really do think a sealant is important for deeply moisturized nourished hair. At least for me. There are tons of oils and butters you could try until you find the right one.

Just remember that the Giovanni Direct Leave-in is a protein leave-in and could make your hair a little hard, especially if you use it daily. I use it but on very wet hair on wash day and sealed in with something very thick and emollient.

I use a heavy butter or cream with Blue Magic (original) blue grease on top to really hold it in the moisture and to keep my hair from getting hard.

I didn't know this. Makes sense why my hair only likes it sometimes.

My experience was to only use a dime size squirt on my whole soaking wet head while still in the shower. I posted in another thread about how any more than this (say, even quarter size) would lather up and spread through all of my hair as if I had dumped the whole bottle on. And once I put too much in my hair, it felt awful when it dried. I'll probably just call it a miss and move on. I had bought a 3pack on Amazon and was trying to get through all of the bottles.

I get the same reaction. I can always tell when I’ve used too much because it gets sudsy. Then I have to squeeze the excess out lol

I actually like this leave in but then again my hair loves protein. I usually apply about a dime to each section and always seal with an oil on freshly washed hair. Sometimes it doesn’t mix well with butters

Wait, what?! I totally didn't know this! I've been using this for years, super diluted as a daily spritz. It's been good to me, but I'm going to start experimenting with other daily spritzes now and see if my hair fairs better.

I had no idea it was a protein leave in. I use to think my hair was protein sensitive but am finding out it actually needs a moderate amount. It doesn't like the heavy stuff though. Hmmmmm..... I'm surprised everyday by this head of hair of mine.

I use it every 2 weeks as a leave in mixed with water to thin it out.

Could someone advise the protein ingredient in Giovanni Direct? I cannot seem to findany hydrolyzed protein on the ingredient list.

The back of the bottle does say "restores strength and luster to abused hair", but I have never felt like it strengthened my hair. It gives good moisture and I like the slip and definition it offers my hair.

How I Use: On wash day only, with shea butter on top as a sealant. But, I have used it more frequently in the past with no ill effect.

There are two protein-like ingredients that protein sensitive people could be reacting to. One is panthenol and the other is glycine soybean extract.

The panthenol is more abundant in the product and I think that it is most likely causing the hard hair feeling in some people. I have no problems with Giovanni but I have felt the effects of panthenol in more concentrated products and it can make the hair hard quickly (similar to mane n tail conditioner) but washes away easily by the next wash day.

The glycine soybean extract is less abundant and I have not seen evidence that it can penetrate the hair like a hydrolyzed protein can.
