I'm getting micros put in next Tuesday and I was wondering how long can you usually keep them in. Also how can I keep my hair moisturized while I'm wearing the braids. My braids aren't going to be real little and it's only going to be braided so far down with the rest of the weave hanging out. The lady is going to be using yaki hair for the braids. My friend told me I won't be able to wash my hair so I was wondering how to keep my hair moisturized. I was also wondering if I should do a heavy duty or light protein treatment before I get them put in. I was thinking about using aphogee treatment, africa's best hair mayonnaise, or Joico K-Pak Reconstructor.

Why can't you was your hair with the braids? I would go crazy. When I wear my braids I wash my hair with no braids slipping out. I use a light protein treatment like EQP breakage control serum followed by a great moisturizing conditioner. HTH

I agree. I currently have micros (I will be removing them in 1 week). I have been using MTG (Mane and Tail Growth) for growth, S-Curl for moisture, and a light oil for added moisture. I wash my braids without problem, but you have to be careful. I put a little shampoo in a spray bottle and fill with water. I am also attaching AJAmericanDiva's braid tips...

Hope this helps

Well right now I have in individuals and I'm trying to keep them in for eight weeks as opposed to four weeks that I usually leave them in for and they were done with human hair. I wash my hair once every two weeks with a cup of diluted shampoo. I use infusium as my leave in and african royale braid spray to keep the length of my braids moisturized. I did a heavy duty protein treatment on my hair with aphogee before I put my braids in.

I wear micro braids and I braid hair. I wouldn't suggest leaving them in any longer than 8 weeks. I want to also remind you that if you are using 100% human hair for braiding (that hair is often times not human, it's animal hair -supply=demand) This hair has been chemically treated to color and texture properly for sale. It's not cut from a really long haired blonde ;) woman.
Anyway, my point is that the hair its self is not clean and the chemicals used to market the hair are counter productive to your hair growth goals.
Chances are the person braiding your hair is not going to pre wash what you're using. Wash it! simple as that! Please don't leave it in too long...

(ever wonder why it smelled like dog hair when it's wet?)

I currently have individuals and I wash my braids every two weeks. I also MTG and Surge several times a week. I keep my hair moisturized with ORS braid oil. I am planning on keeping them in for a total of 8 weeks. I'm too scared to stretched it out.
