I talked about a few changes in my regimen when it comes to pressing my hair in the thread below:

^Of course that thread was worthless without pics, so I went home & snapped a few pics to share  These are from about an hour ago...I pressed my hair on yesterday:

Tried to get a close-up of the roots so you could see how straight I was able to get it with my GVP:

The pic below is from about a month ago when I last pressed it. I rolled it on big rollers and this was the result:

You inspired me so much that I washed my hair just to flat ironed it all over again and this time I used less temperature so my hair is now thicker than the first time. Thank you.

Your hair looks absolutely fabulous!! As you already know, I go to Too Groovy too; but the next time I straighten my hair, I'm determined to do it myself.

Thanks for the inspiration, ZZ.

Mine was a bday gift that was sent to me via mail, and I noticed my friend bought it from Amazon.com (which was where I was actually gonna buy it from).

I read in a post earlier today (by TJK25?? sorry if I misspelled the name) that there is a knockoff in Sally's that works just as good as the Denman supposedly. If I can find that thread I'll reference it for you.

Okay, feel dumb asking this, but where do I get a brush like that? Ihavenotice many ladies use one. I have looked at Wmart and my BSS, couldn't find one. Do you order online?
Great press btw.

Sally's sells the real Denman's. I've seen them in some BSS's too.

OP - Your hair looks great!

zz your hair came out absolutely gorgeous!:grin::grin: thanks for posting your steps in detail. and yes, i think the d12 is better than the denman for detangling natural hair. it has numerous rows of teeth that really remove shed hair. :yep:

Oooooooooo, soooo pretty! I think I may try because only the pressing comb seems to get my hair straight. You have a lot of great tips and suggestions in your post and regimen! Thanks!

A couple people asked how long it takes...here's a breakdown of the time involved:

Pre-poo: Usually 1 hour

Shampoo/protein/twisting: 20 mins

Steaming: 20 mins

Detangling: 20 mins

Blow drying: 45 mins

Pressing: 45 mins

That's about 3 and a half hours total...In Too Groovy salon it's two. But keep in mind, one hour above is just the pre-poo part, which doesn't involve doing anything really.

Yes, it's a long time but I'm just getting a handle on pressing. I am particularly slow at the actual flat-ironing stage because I am very meticulous in flat ironing the hair in VERY small sections, and going over each section slowly.

I am working on perfecting the process, and hopefully over time once I have it realllly down, the amount of time may decrease. HTH...
