G-R-O-S-S!!! Monoi Oil Invaded by Spores!!!

So, I go to reach for my Jasmine scented monoi oil this morning and I notice something white. UGGGH! I look more closely and the whole thing seems to have solidified and it has white round spore looking things all over it! I am so grossed out!! Has this happened to anyone else's monoi oil? What would cause this? I just used it less than a week ago! What could have gotten in it?? Ewww!!! I feel all creepy-crawly now!!

From what I understand, this happens from time-to-time when the entire bottle doesn't solidify. I don't think there's anything wrong with it though. Does it smell funny? If not, I say keep on using it up.

Yes Hairlove, I understand. This happens to my Monoi oil on a regular basis. It solidifies when it gets cold and has that ugly appearance. I guess it doesn't bother me because my unscent coconut oil looks like that too. It should be fine to use. You can run some hot water over the bottle to get it back to liquid form or apply it to your hands and rub together to get it back to its normal state.

Hairlove, sorry to hear about the spores! Never heard of that happening before. What brand was it?

I have Monoi oil blend from Yves Rocher and put a few drops for shining my hair or a few drops for perfume.

Don't worry! It's most likely from the coconut oil in it.

Gee, it's so gross but now I've noticed it's unsolidifying. I guess it was the cold overnight. I'll hang on to it...but by golly, just looking at it makes my skin crawl!
