For the past year, I've been pretty weaveless since I've been trying to get a better handle on my natural hair. I think I'm ready to try a wash n go again since I haven't really been experiencing problems with tangling/single strand knots.

This week I've been using ACV rinses with cold water after cowashing. My curls look amazing afterwards. However, I've found that as soon as I try to manipulate it to apply moisturizer, my curls get frizzy once again. How can I avoid this? I tried applying my products right after I did the ACV rinse in the shower and it still looks awful.

Yep, I think empressri is right...
Whenever I use something with protein like AOBGA or even vo5 moisture milks as a rinse out or a leave in like giovanni my curls aren't frizzy. I usually do my acv rinse after I shampoo then I use my conditioner after the acv rinse instead of before the acv.
After that I add either HS14in1 or Giovanni leave in, olive oil and a gel for no frizz

what products do you use?

^^Good question. :yep:

@Ediese I haven't tried what I'm about to suggest...but I would be willing to put my money on the fact that if you applied John Frieda Frizz Ease Serum to your damp hair and styled it while damp or wet, it'd keep the style w/o frizz. The thing is, you have to trust that your hair is moisturized enough with whatever you DC'd with as well as the water you're sealing in with JF Frizz Ease so that you don't smother your hair with more stuff than necessary.

When I was relaxed and even after I went natural, I'd apply Frizz Ease on my wet hair and my hair would not only be smooth but also shiny and frizz free. I didn't even know about DCing then, but my hair didn't suffer from me not applying any other moisturizer.

What I think is if your hair looks good when wet after ACV, apply JF while wet and styling it while wet will allow it to stay that way. Later when fully dry, you can probably manipulate it (not add product coz it will make no sense since serums seal hair) and it still looks frizz free.

I don't know if they still sell the satchets of the product for under a dollar, but if you can find them, I implore you to try one on a small section of your hair. Do your ACV rinse and then while hair is wet apply JF and finger style or whatever it is you do...even comb through like you're shingling, then let it be. I bet you it'll dry with a nice shine and be smooth to touch and be soft as well.

I've been trying to keep it simple as possible. I clarify with suave once a month. Every 2 weeks, I usually apply EVOO for 30 mins before my wash. I wash with creme of nature shampoo, condition with pantene conditioner, sometimes I use the aphoghee hard protein -- 1 every 6 weeks followed by deep conditioning with Giovanni conditioner under my steamer. I moisturize with Kimmy Tube's leave in. That works wonders.

Btw: just bought the TE mud wash, so I'll be trying that soon.

Just make sure you read the ingredients (every single one). cones, mineral oil, petrolatum coat the hair so the products may seem to work at first but eventually the coating won't allow moisture in. Also alcohols dry out the hair like cray cray! The TE mud wash will def help your hair A LOT. Also, try some of the Shea moisture products. I don't use their shampoo's or conditioner but I do use the hair masque and the curl enhancing smoothie.... How do you normally style your hair?

ps: I love Kimmay tubes leave in! :yep:

My hair frizzes up too so I feel your pain. I bought PH balance sticks to find out which products are good for my dry hair. Any products that are not at least a 6 or 7 do not go on my head. BTW apple cider rinses are acidic and can make your frizz worse if you don't follow up with a moisturizing leave-in conditioner.

Steaming helps me with frizz. I also make sure to add a leave in before adding gel. I'm not protein sensitive so doing an Aphohee treatment every 3 months helps me.

Since you are still getting to know your hair it'll be hit & miss as you experiment. The only other advice I'll give you is to list the products you are using and we might be able to pin point the culprit. Not all "natural" products are moisturizing or good for our type of dry hair.

I apply a Shea butter/oil concoction in the shower before my products, cold water rinse, then smooooothe in my products (no cones) ala Kimmay, dont touch until dry, and i don't have frizz.

Bumping for more help! I'm with OP as I am dealing with ridiculous frizzy curls at my crown. I've deduced that I have low porosity there so I'm going to try a baking soda rinse at my next wash. I've tried everything and the only thing that semi works is ORS pak or yogurt DCs but there is still frizz! OP, how's that mud wash working for your curls?

Esthi77, I have frizzy curls at my crown too. I use extra product and extra smoothing there and it seems to help.

What action are you using to distribute the products? I have found that it helps to sort of clap the curls between ur palms to distribute products.

Flaxseed gel is also great for defining curls... pics are in my album

PatTodd renren Thanks. I am using extra product and a denman brush. Its starts off smooth and then POOF! back to frizz at my crown. I'm almost thinking about dyeing the hair there to break down the bonds and smooth it out..smh...

No no no denman brush on the crown! Maybe on the ends only but it always produces frizz and shrinkage for me. I dont comb or brush that area at all once i have applied my shea butter and product..that would destroy any definition...I just smooth and smooth until it feels "right" - then i leave it to dry. But then again I am a tight 3c.
