What is the one thing that would have made a difference in continuing your transition?

If you cannot name just one thing then mention as much as you want of course. But I am most curious about the major thing that would have made a difference?

Do you plan to try transitioning again?

I transitioned for 9 months and relaxed out of frustration. I instantly regretted it and haven't relaxed since. The thing that would have made the biggest difference for me would have been more length to blend in the newgrowth. I didn't like my buns or my braidouts because my hair was too short and I did not feel cute unless my hair was flatironed, which I did not want to do. Now I'm almost 6 months post and almost APL! I can wear cute buns and braidouts w/o using heat.

if it would have taken LESS time to comb out my hair on wash days i would've continued. i transitioned for about 18 months before i finally broke down and relaxed. i am more attached to my length than i am to my natural hair at this point in my life :look: so a BC was not an option. i do not regret my decision :nono:

will i transition again? yes, when i'm ready to transition for about 2 years and then BC...

eta: i posted some pix of my transitioning hair here

I did and two months later I was transitioning again. I'm now going into my tenth month transitioning. I had relaxed again out of frustration with trying to straighten my hair. Instead, I should have taken more time to search the forum for straightening tips for naturals. Oh well, live and learn.

Last year I transitioned for 6 months and then relaxed in June 2008. I told myself at the time that it was because my hair was dry but honestly, I know now that I could've done more to combat the dryness. I honestly just really wanted straight hair and wanted the length to show. I also feared shrinkage. I don't believe I was I mentally prepared to go natural and that is the one thing that would've made a difference for me with respect to continuing with my transition. I didn't really have problems in dealing with the two textures. Moreover, dealing with the new growth was actually relatively easy.

I am currently transitioning again and currently 7.5 months post relaxer. I plan to BC in two weeks so that there will be no turning back. My last relaxer was on Oct 4, 2008 and I know I'm ready now. I'm ready to embrace the shrinkage and all the options that come with being natural. I no longer have a desire to have straight. If I want straight hair, I'll get a weave or a wig.

What is ironic is that as a relaxed head, my hair was always protected and I wasn't really happy with my relaxed hair. After relaxing in October, when I wore my hair out, it was always in a braid out; never straight.
