Formaldehyde in Hair vs. Nail Products

Hello!

I just received my Sedal Keraforce Shampoo and Acondicionador from Sickbay.
I was really excited about trying them until I realized that formaldehyde was towards the end of the ingredient list. While I certainly understand that anything from air to Legos (Lonngg Storrry;)) can be potentially dangerous, I am not sure how I feel about using products with this in it on my head. Is using hair products with formaldehye in them equally/less/more harmful than using nail polish that contains this ingredient?

***I am really considering throwing these away, but I don't want to be wasteful.

The nail polish I use lists this as an ingredient and comes with a warning not to bring into direct contact with any part of the skin. . . I worried about that so I don't know about directly on the scalp. Nothing is safe these days. Not even the air. I think you have to make your own personal calls about all the chemicals out there as it is impossible to avoid them all.

Thanks for your responses. I have thought about it, and I might just use the bottle of Sedal shampoo and conditioner up and just not repurchase it again. Using these two up shouldn't send me to the Great Beyond immediately or at least I hope not. ()

I would reccomend that you DO NOT use this! I didnt even think formaldehyde was still being used in anything,, i would have thought nail products stopped using it:
Because formaldehyde resins are used in many construction materials, including plywood, carpet, and spray-on insulating foams, and because these resins slowly give off formaldehyde over time, formaldehyde is one of the more common indoor air pollutants. At concentrations above 0.1 mg/kg in air, inhaled formaldehyde can irritate the eyes and mucous membranes, resulting in watery eyes, headache, a burning sensation in the throat, and difficulty breathing.
Large formaldehyde exposures, for example from drinking formaldehyde solutions, are potentially lethal. Formaldehyde is converted to formic acid in the body, leading to a rise in blood acidity, rapid, shallow breathing, hypothermia, and coma or death. People who have ingested formaldehyde require immediate medical attention.
In the body, formaldehyde can cause proteins to irreversibly bind to DNA. Laboratory animals exposed to large doses of inhaled formaldehyde over their lifetimes have developed more cancers of the nose and throat than are usual, as have workers in particle-board sawmills. However, some studies suggest that smaller concentrations of formaldehyde like those encountered in most buildings have no carcinogenic effects. Formaldehyde is classifed as a probable human carcinogen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and as a known human carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer.
This is from wikipedia,, Personally i wouldnt use anything containing formaldehyde, if u leave this conditioner or even put it on ur scalp it will absorb through your skin and who knows what effects would result... i think health is more important than a few bucks:)

Well dang no wonder I've been seeing nail polish advertising free of this stuff. Is that wear all the high powered gloss is coming in these new polish colors these days?
