Okay let me know if anyone goes to the Dominicans and just get there roots blown and then curled or whatever!! What kind os results did or do you get??? Is it better than getting your wholehead blown out then curled? let me know!!!
I got my roots blown out when I was 5 weeks post relaxer. I liked the results. I just didn't like the intense heat of the blow dryer on my scalp. :burning:
It looks GR8!! I will definately try that next time. The pic in my avatar is my hair blown, but thats the last time so much heat is gonna touch my hair (the whole length)
I was just about to start a thread on this topic...I get my roots blown every week when I go 2 the salon...I DO NOT curl my ends, just wrap and go....blowing your entire head is asking for damage!..but I think I will stop blowing my roots so often, the heat is "killing" my scalp...I strongly believe this is the reason for my excessive shedding...My anniv resolution is to blow my roots once a month, when my NG gets out of hand
I was surprised (unpleasantly) that my 2 year transitioning hair went through a horrible shed after a vigorous blowing out w/intense heat by someone who said she was "used to handling thick hair". I thought that only happened post relaxer.
Anyways, I used to get the roots blown just enough to loosen them so that my hair had movement and sway...& never let them blow it to where it was super straight or w/such heat although they wld steam it first or pre-dry under dryers... stopping that practice, too
I like my hair to retain natural texture..but in a weak moment, last time I wnet to a stylist, let the stylist go to very hot and very straight last time....she was also impatient and overwhelmed with the volume and combing techniques were like rip rip rip ....well, my hair paid for it...by the handfuls NEVER AGAIN
The purpose of me having the roots blown opposed to the entire head was to get the crimps from the rollerset out or to tame new growth. I would opt for that instead of the entire head, because the rollerset already has worked to smooth and seal the cuticles of the length of the hair and has already straightened it. I feel that when the hot blow dryer goes back over them with a round brush it is unsealing those (already sealed) cuticles and makes them more prone to splitting.
I don't suggest you get your whole head blown. It's easier to just have them blow your roots out (if you have newgrowth) and then pincurl or wrap your hair afterwards. (If they pin curl it, they will zap it with the blowdryer to help the curl "form" better).
Here's a tip...
When getting your roots blown, have them use a fine tooth comb. It's easier on the hair and scalp b/c they only have to run through it once.
