Hey y'all,

So recently I have been wearing my hair straight but cannot seem to go longer than 4 days before having to shampoo my hair again. Not only does my hair look weighed down, but my scalp smells like it needs to be washed. i have to find an alternative to having to wash it so often. It's already bad im using heat, now I have to do use heat every 5 days.

Btw, I am transitioning and wear clip ins when I straighten.

I run into the same issue but I love clean hair and so I wash it and just rock my natural hair until I get bored again. I won't use heat back to back.

This happens to me whenever I'm wearing "special occasion hair" and put product on right after it gets straightened (knowing I'm gonna have to wash right after).
Just wondering, what & how many products you normally use.
In my case, the less applied, the longer I can go before needing another shampoo.

Hmm, interesting. When I get my hair professionally flat ironed, the results last a month.

When I do it myself, maybe a week and a half, two weeks.

The results last quite a bit. My roots dont really revert unless I get my hairline wet while I shower. What I have a problem is my scalp needing to get washed. I lose the fresh/clean smell after about 3-4 days tops. Here is my routine:

Pre-poo with silicon mix because the scent is so strong
Poo with tresemme
DC with tresemme or silicon mix or nunaat shea butter/keratin mask
Detangle, Rinse
A dab of leave-in
Blow dry
Apply serum/polish to blow dried hair
Flat iron

Am I doing something wrong? I am beginning to lose it and just wig it for a while to give my hair a much needed break. Problem is, I would feel more comfortable with a curly lace front and just wear it behind my hairline, BUT I cant seem to find a nice one. Any suggestions?

it might just be you have an oily scalp. i noticed when i stopped washing frequently and stopped shampooing w/traditional shampoo i am able to keep my hair straight and scalp smelling good for much longer.

Yeah, I suppose that's the problem. I like that my scalp isn't usually dry and I dont have to oil my scalp at all instead my hair strands, BUT I just hate to wash frequently just because it means having to use for heat. I totally wouldn't mind it if I was wearing natural styles. I might have to compromise and either stretch my heat usage, or keep my hair clean and fresh but switch to natural styles.

Maybe try using a liquid spray heat protectant instead of the serum to straighten. How heavy is your leave in? Perhaps something lighter is in order, or skipping it in favor of one light product that protects and is a leave in.

Also try to go longer periods without using shampoo by washing with a clarifying conditioner or water only to get your scalp used to less frequent shampoo use.
